CANOPUS has released its new snare drums, the ‘MTR-1450PH-CM’ and ‘MO-1440 CM’.
The ‘MTR-1450PH-CM’ belongs to the TYPE-R series and is a model designed to deliver a clear attack and a controlled balance of overtones. It achieves a sound with excellent projection 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 making the most of the natural resonance unique to a wooden shell. The 8-ply maple shell, finished with an oil finish, 𝐦𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 response and resonance, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 the combination with 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞 black coated hardware and heads results in a tight, focused sound with suppressed overtones.
The ‘MO-1440 CM’ is a model that further develops the concept of ‘making a piccolo-sized drum work as a main snare’. The 12-strand top and 6-strand bottom tension configuration balances a tight attack with rich resonance, emphasising the presence of the mid-range. The use of round-edge hoops suppresses unwanted sustain 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 delivering a cohesive sound. Despite its compact size, it offers the depth and focused tone of a deep-shell drum.
