He studied under Herbert von Karajan and Leonard Bernstein. He demonstrated his skills with world-renowned orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, and in 2002, became the first Japanese conductor to appear on stage at the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert. In Japan, he served as the Honorary Conductor of the New Japan Philharmonic and General Director of the "Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival," leading the classical music world.
