Former Wings member Denny Laine dies

    2023/12/06

Denny Laine, best known as a member of "The Moody Blues" and "Paul McCartney's Wings," has died, according to his official Facebook page. He was 79 years old.

A native of Birmingham, Denny Laine was a member of the early Moody Blues after forming Denny & the Diplomats with future Electric Light Orchestra member Bev Bevan. He gained recognition as a vocalist, including the hit song "Go Now," but left the group in 1966. He formed the Electric String Band and released several singles, including "Say You Don't Mind," which later became a popular live song for the early Wings. After joining Ginger Baker's band, Ginger Baker's Air Force, he was invited by Paul McCartney to form Wings in 1971. While many members changed, he remained dedicated to the band until its breakup, especially in songwriting, contributing to the mega-hit "Mull of Kintyre. After the breakup of Wings, he went solo and released many excellent albums, including "Lonely Road," which includes the classic "Land Of Peace," a song with a traditional UK flavor. To honor the memory of such a nostalgic rock icon, we would like to present a wonderful number that he co-wrote with Paul, which is included in the upcoming 50th-anniversary release of Wings' classic album "Band On The Run," to express our sincere condolences.
