U.S. Grammy Awards Announces New Rules Against AI Songwriting

    2023/06/24

On April 16, the Recording Academy, which runs the U.S. Grammy Awards, made a new regulation stating that songs produced exclusively by artificial intelligence (AI) will not qualify for the awards. The new rule will be adopted starting with the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024, in a preemptive move to address the generation AI issue that has been spreading to the music industry. Only human creators will be eligible for awards, and even if AI-generated material is used, as long as the subject matter is human, it will be eligible for awards in certain categories. The rapid evolution of AI is expected to significantly impact the music industry in terms of both utilization and challenges in the future.
