In June 2019, we visited the Taro district of Miyako City, Iwate Prefecture, for our project "YOITOKO Trips". We donated ukuleles then, and people in Miyako City recently sent us a video to show us how those ukuleles are doing now! The donated ukuleles have been handed over and rented out to the locals, and have been used to revitalize the town and for entertainment in the local community.
The video was filmed at a ukulele recital at the 1st Anniversary Festival of "Miyako City Kuwagasaki Genki Ichi" held in the fall of 2021. The ukulele band members, local junior high school teachers, and even the mayor and deputy mayor of Miyako City also joined on the stage! You're sure to feel the joy and excitement of music as watching many people play ukulele with smiles on their faces!
