On November 25, 2018, at a nice restaurant called Koyoniku, which is located one block away from Omotesando Street leading from Narita Station to Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, we helped out with the vol.9 of the local event called “Narita no Okage” to revitalize Narita City♪
This time around, we provided audio equipment from the Sound House showroom.
Have a look!
It's the QSC festival!!
Main Speaker: QSC CP12
Subwoofer: QSC KS212C
Floor Monitors: QSC CP8, QSC K8.2
Digital Mixer: QSC TouchMix-16
Main Vocal Microphone: Aspen Pittman Design DT1 Dual Top Condenser Microphone

The performers and the audience who came out to the event gave us a lot of compliments!!
・There is still room for sound output. As expected, 1000W!!
・Well-balanced from high to low frequencies!!
・The tight low from the subwoofer feels so good!!
・Speakers are so light and easy to carry!!
・Compact small mixer with all these features… I want it!!
・It's amazing that you can operate the mixer on your iPad in the same way as operating on the mixer directly!! You can listen to the sound and operate it from the audience!!
・The sound quality has enhanced overall than previous Narita no Okage events!!
When I started the rehearsal at the venue, I was surprised at the gap between the looks and sound of the QSC CP12. Despite its compact appearance, I had the impression that the CP12 produces clear sound from high to low frequencies without any stress. There is no excess or deficiency in expressing the fine details and reproducing attacks. Regarding power, I didn't feel any dissatisfaction at the live performance (small composition of vocals, acoustic guitar, and vocal percussion) immediately after the DJ time with other PA systems. Looking at the back panel, it has 6 Contour presets. I couldn't control it this time, but I think it's convenient to be able to change the sound quality of the speaker according to use. I think it has quite satisfactory specifications for what a speaker of this size can do. It doesn't take up much space, and I think it's a reliable item that can turn anywhere into an instant live venue.
And these are what I learned from my first experience to help the event from the rehearsal and preparing from the start.
・The positional relation between the main speaker and the performance area is very important.
・The way the floor monitor is heard changes with a slight direction change.
→It should be placed toward the performer’s face!!
・Many performers need a table to put down something.
→We were lucky that there was a keyboard stand and a board.
・The cable needs to be longer than expected when it is routed neatly.
→We routed the cable to turn outside so it looks neat.
・Be sure to check the output terminals and the number of channels of the equipment the performers brought in beforehand.
→A lot of conversion adapters helped us!!
・Numbering is required for the connectors on the stage side (so we needed gum tape and a pen).
→Color coding also works. Now I want the NEUTRIK color bushings.
・When the audience's in, the way the sound reverberates and is heard changes considerably.
→I adjusted the reverb on the iPad while listening to the performance.
・Unexpected things happen during the performance.
→The signal was suddenly cut off and restored this time.
・The withdrawal work went incredibly fast compared to the preparation. Lol.
→Narita no Okage's teamwork is amazing!!
There were many more, but these are what I could think of right now.
Anyway, it was a great experience for me to be able to touch a lot of things that we can learn only from the production♪
Ok, that's all for the equipment and set up. Please have a look how the venue was like!
Koyoniku is so cool!!

The gentle light of the handmade candles is beautiful, isn't it?

There was also a plant dyeing workshop where you can make your own t-shirt♪

Beer and tacos never disappoint♪

For DJing, Narita no Okage crew members entertained the audience as always♪

[.ya] Experimental band led by a young hopeful from Tomisato, Ryo Onodera!
A three-piece band consisting of electric guitar, synthesizer, and music programming. Each part created good vibes and demonstrated superb technique together to come up with this wonderful unique sound♪ They played the last song featuring Aimi Mukohara on the vocals which was also great, and maybe it felt comfortable because my daughter fell asleep. Lol. Thank you guys for always using Sound House♪

[Aimi Mukohara] The diva of Narita who was featured on the vocals for the Japanese version of Super Mario Odyssey theme song
"MaL" is a breath performer (vocal percussionist) who is active nationwide.
I knew it... Yes, I knew that his performance would be awesome before I even heard it. However, he was actually much more amazing than I expected and I felt as if his music shook me to the core. I asked Aimi to use the Aspen Pittman Design condenser microphone DT1, but she vividly expressed the charm in her singing voice with it♪ Aimi and MaL performed along with each other very well, and the dense sound using looper and other effectors was impressive♪

[Eiichiro Taruki] Unique and artistic style of guitar and singing
I saw Taruki's performance for the first time. He plays classic electric guitar and sings. The performance was pared down to just guitar and his voice, so the simplicity of his voice and guitar were even more outstanding♪ It was such an overwhelming aura that I could see everyone was entranced by his performance as soon as it started. It was probably because both his singing and guitar were amazing, and I saw that he was performing with his whole body. His way of speaking was also interesting and rhythmical, and it felt like the time had passed in no time. I suddenly remembered why live music is so amazing.

[Yusuke Hoshi] International musician who mainly plays didgeridoo and percussion
Hoshi has come to the Sound House showroom before. I told him about it and I was happy that he remembered it♪ It was my first time listening to the didgeridoo live, but I wondered how the long tubular instrument produced a variety of tones. Although it can't play a melody like the guitar, feeling the unique tone and rhythm soak into my body was a completely new sensation. The handpan also sounded transparent and beautiful, which was so impressive that it had the power to bring everyone into a lighter mood at the venue. The session by all the performers at the end was also very fun, and from the beginning to the end, I had such a fantastic time♪

Narita no Okage...
I'm happy to be able to witness this event becoming more and more wonderful each year.
I felt so content when I saw and heard that everyone was smiling and having a great time.

This time I joined the entire event starting with the preparation and rehearsal to the end, but I couldn't have done it without the help of a lot of people involved in making the best stage, and yet everyone was going the same direction. I was so moved. We need to accumulate knowledge so that we can respond smartly and accurately to the requests of the performers for the sound. I have to learn more about it every day.

The next one will be a new milestone since it's going to be vol.10 of Narita no Okage.
I would like to do my best to support it as a member of the Sound House showroom!!
