PLAYTECH has released new mid-grade violin series models, the PVN644 and PVN744! However, to be honest, it may be difficult to clearly understand how this violin series actually differs from previous PLAYTECH violins. To address these questions, this time I compared each model to see what the differences are, and how their specifications differ when actually played. This article is an introduction based on that comparison.

Four New Models for 2026!
The new PLAYTECH violin series for 2026 consists of the following four models.

Now, let’s compare the specifications of each violin one by one.
PLAYTECH / PVN644 Violin 4/4
Features: This is the first varnish-finished violin in the PLAYTECH violin lineup. Instead of the conventional synthetic resin coating, it features an authentic varnish finish that clearly brings out the wood grain. The color is a deep brown, and of course it is made with solid wood and ebony fittings. It delivers a solid sense of volume and projection. With its rich, weighty tone, this model is recommended for those who are looking for a serious violin at an affordable price.
PLAYTECH / PVN744A Violin 4/4 Advanced Model
Features: This is a middle-grade violin in the PLAYTECH lineup. It features an authentic varnish finish with a beautiful glossy yellow color. The model is designed to offer a quality that satisfies not only beginners but also intermediate and advanced players. The wood grain is clearly visible, and it provides a rich, resonant sound. This violin is recommended for those who want to improve their playing skills even a little.
PLAYTECH / PVN744E Violin 4/4 European Model
Features: This is PLAYTECH’s first antique-style violin. It features an aged varnish finish that gives the impression of being aged over many years. It recreates the seasoned character of an old violin. European tonewoods are used generously in its construction. Enjoy a rich, full-bodied sound with bright, resonant tones. This model is recommended for those who have a slightly bigger budget to work with.
Summary of the three middle-grade models
With the use of quality materials and varnish finishes, these middle-grade PLAYTECH violins offer a step up in performance and feel compared to previous models, delivering instruments that meet expectations with impressive quality.
Ideal Instruments for Violin Lessons
These middle-grade models provide sufficient quality and sound for students taking violin lessons, making them reliable instruments that deliver more than their price suggests.
For those who aren’t taking lessons but want an affordable, entry-level violin that still performs decently, this instrument could be just what you’re looking for.
PLAYTECH / PVN144 Violin 4/4
Features: The first laminated model in the PLAYTECH violin lineup. This is an entry-level model focused on giving the player the best quality for its price. It has a glossy finish with a dark brown color. Despite the low price, the pegs are made of ebony, making it a recommended violin set for those starting out on the violin for the first time.
