The Story of How I Fell into the Camping Gear Rabbit Hole at Sound House - Join Me At the Outdoor Cafe!

In my previous blog post, “It All Started With A Chair”, I talked about the very first piece of outdoor gear I bought — my hammock chair. This article is a continuation of that story.

While I had already achieved peak relaxation with my hammock chair, I couldn’t help but think: “If only I could have a cup of freshly brewed coffee right here…” And with that thought, my desire to elevate the experience kicked in.

I wasted no time. I hopped from one outdoor shop to another and quickly gathered everything I needed ♪

I just really wanted freshly brewed coffee!

Here’s what was in my very first “Freshly Brewed Coffee On-the-Go Starter Set”:

What I looked for:

• Compact and easy to carry
• Just the essentials for boiling water and making drip coffee

Since getting too picky can lead to decision paralysis, I went ahead and picked items I could get right away so no overthinking was necessary! (laughs)

My first titanium mug was great. It was lightweight and durable, but there was one downside: the coffee cooled off too quickly (>_<).
So, I upgraded to an enamel mug that is both durable and maintains temperature!
It keeps cold drinks from warming up in the summer, and since it's safe to put over an open flame, you can reheat hot drinks too. It’s super handy!

Then, I fired up the gas burner, boiled some water, and made a drip coffee.
Ahhh... the wonderful aroma of freshly brewed coffee!

To go with the coffee, I ate a fresh momiji manju that I received as a souvenir ♪
The sky was unfortunately cloudy, but still... there’s nothing like freshly brewed coffee in the middle of nature!

Is the next goal an outdoor café?

On days off with no plans, I often find myself sitting in a café, sipping coffee and thinking, “What should I do today?” Sometimes I even drift into thoughts about life goals.
I love that kind of quiet, unhurried time. And now I can have that in nature!

Naturally, my imagination runs wild:
Wouldn’t it be great to create a more café-like healing space out here?
Maybe add some tasty food and sweets?
I just can’t stop dreaming up new ideas.
It feels like I’ve opened a whole new door, and I’m so excited! One idea after another keeps bubbling up in my head.

Right now, the item I’ve been eyeing is this:

Since I love café lattes, I want to take my time and try making one the right way and from scratch!
At home, I might think, “Ugh, that’s a bit of a hassle…” — but when I'm outdoors, every step of the process somehow becomes fun and enjoyable (^-^)
Maybe I’m just having fun playing pretend kitchen like I did as a kid!

Bit by bit, my outdoor café gear is evolving —
Here I am swapping out mugs, picking up a coffee grinder and a drip kettle... one upgrade at a time.
Once I’ve mastered making café lattes outdoors, I’ll be sure to report back!
