Playtech offers a diverse lineup of cymbals ranging from value entry models to high-grade B20 bronze selections. In addition to splashes and chinas, their collection includes a variety of effects cymbals such as those with perforations.
I would like to review and share my impressions of playing various Playtech cymbals by category!
The cymbals I am going to review this time are china cymbals.
When practicing in a studio or playing at a live music venue, there are often situations where I have to play a crash, ride, and hi-hat cymbals, but there are usually no china cymbals, or I either have to pay to borrow one… Also, not many people have their own china cymbals, so having one can set you apart from the rest!
I am going to review all the china cymbals on display in our showroom, so please use this review as a reference for your purchases.
(These are the models on display as of June 2024)
Playtech / PCL18CH China 18”
This PCL series has a beautiful luster and clear bell sound.
The response is very good, the sustain is long, and the resonance is beautiful!
It’s just like a royal road china cymbal with a non-habitual sound. This is a cymbal that seems to fit any genre.
PLAYTECH / PCT18CH China 18"
It has a bright and elegant sound with a long sustain, and the volume seems easy to control. I love its clean sound without any roughness!
PLAYTECH / PCX18CH China 18"
The PCX series of Playtech cymbals has a particularly unique appearance.
Not only the appearance, but it also has the deepest overtones. The sound gradually spreads out. The sustain is long and dark sounding with a heavy pressure and is just cool.
PLAYTECH / PCE18CH China 18"
The sound is very bright and powerful at first, but then the volume quickly decays and the dark, warm sound is extended. The wide dynamic range is very attractive.
PLAYTECH / PCA18CH China 18"
The PCA series, which emphasizes sound release, is my favorite sounding china cymbal!
The response is very good and the sound spreads out quickly.
The sustain is short and the reverberation is very clean, making it an easy to use cymbal.
PLAYTECH / PCB18CH China 18"
This china cymbal has a very different tone compared to other cymbals.
It has a good response and a forward, bright sound, but the sustain is short.
It has the sound of both a bell cymbal and a china cymbal.
PLAYTECH / PCC18CH China 18"
The sound is very grainy, clean and uncloudy.
I found the sound to be clear and calm. I recommend this one for those who want an understated china cymbal.
PLAYTECH / PCH18CH China 18"
The PCH series, featuring brass construction, offers china cymbals that are affordable and attractive in terms of price.
They produce a soft, warm sound that varies depending on how they are struck, making them suitable for carving out rhythms as well.
PLAYTECH / PCM18CH China 18"
Clear sound.
It has a strong attack and presence, and the sustain is very long.
Like the PCH series above, this is a china cymbal, but I think it can also be used as a ride cymbal. Also, the phenomenal price of this cymbal makes it the perfect china cymbal for beginners.
This time, I reviewed 9 types of Playtech china cymbals!
Was there one that seemed to fit your taste?
Next time I will introduce another category of cymbals, so come back again next time!
