30 Basses We Highly Recommend by Price Range for 2026

I joined Sound House as an instrument seller, but I was originally a bass player.
In this issue, as the title suggests, I will introduce 10 basses that I highly recommend from a player's point of view in different price ranges, based on both looks and functionality.

Under 20,000 yen

① PLAYTECH / JB420 Green

I selected the JB420 from Sound House’s brand PLAYTECH. It's a Jazz Bass model and it’s easy to play! Green is a popular color that has gone viral on Sound House’s TikTok.

② SQUIER / Sonic Precision Bass Maple-FB White-PG California Blue

Personally, I prefer the maple fingerboard for Precision Bass. Also, the bright California blue color goes well with the maple fingerboard. Cuteness is justice.

③ YAMAHA / TRBX304 CAR Electric Bass

Only the TRBX300 series has a Performance EQ Switch with 5 preset EQ settings for Slap, Pick, Flat, Finger and Solo. Personally, I wish all models would have this feature.

④ Ibanez / SR300E-PW

The SR series has been popular for more than 30 years. The SR300E-PW has a sophisticated look and perfect sound.

⑤ Tagima Guitars / TJB-4 BLACK

Jazz Bass Model made by the Brazilian maker, Tajima. It has a sound and potential that is hard to believe at this price range! You will enjoy the tone that changes as you play it.

Standard model of the BB series, with Precision Bass model pickups for a wide variety of sound creation.

⑦ Sterling / RAY4 Black

This StingRay has a cool design and powerful sound with humbuckers and an active preamp.

⑧ YAMAHA / TRBX604FM NS

This bass has a flame maple top, which was only available on high-end models a decade ago! Also, it is equipped with an active/passive switch, and I hope all models will eventually have this too.

⑨ Michael Kelly Guitars / Element 4 Vintage Zebra Burst

This is Michael Kelly's Jazz Bass Model. As the name "Zebra Burst" suggests, the wood grain is so strong that you can see the stripes.

⑩ Fender / Player Precision Bass, Maple, Buttercream

Lastly, I want to show you this Fender guitar. To be honest, I had a hard time deciding between this and a Jazz Bass from the same Player series, but I chose this one based on the points that I really wanted: the Precision Bass with the maple fretboard. Also, Buttercream is a difficult color to choose, but Fender beautifully colored it to have such a graceful look..
