So you think that electronic drums don’t make any extraneous vibrations? Actually, you may not notice that your electric drums also need anti-vibration.
Drummers have always struggled with finding a way to practice at home, so electronic drums were invented to solve this problem.
Sensors receive the vibrations when hitting the pads, and you can hear sampled sounds through speakers or headphones. Electronic drums have a wide variety of built-in sound sources, so you can freely select from a wide range of tones other than just the ordinary acoustic drum sound.
“The electric drums can be heard through the headphones, so you can feel free to practice anytime!”
It’s true that this is one advantage to playing electronic drums, but when you’re actually playing them, you will notice something.
“The vibration of the drums is really annoying...”
Yes, the hitting sound and the vibrations are made physically when you hit the hi-hat or bass drum. Even though the drum sound is heard through the headphones, the physical reverberations from the hitting pedals may end up bothering you a lot.
However, TAMA has released a new product that solves this problem!
Introducing the
ISO-BASE SOUND REDUCTION PAD!
This handy sound reduction pad provides anti-vibration just by placing it under the drum pedals and hi-hat stands.
The lineup includes these two types.
TIBP1 Pedal Pad | TIBL1 Leg Pad |

Material: EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer Rubber) Dimensions: Width 62 x Length 77 x Thickness 30 mm Weight: 60 g |
The TIBP1 pedal pad is meant to be used with hi-hat pedals and bass drum pedals, and the TIBL1 leg pad is meant to go under stand legs and rubber bass drum spur tips.
Now, let’s take a closer look!
The anti-vibration mechanism has small rubber balls on the bottom of the integrally-molded rubber pad!
(Bottom)

The bottom of the integrally-molded rubber pad has small rubber balls that prevent extraneous vibrations from occurring!
This keeps the optimal resilience of the rubber at all times and provides high stability and reduces wobble during drum performance. Both models are also lightweight; The TIBP1 pedal pad is 700 g and the TIBL1 leg pad is only 60 g.
Most rubber vibration isolators feel heavy when holding one in your hand, but you will be surprised at how light these TAMA pads are. As the product description says, “It has an excellent portability,” making it light enough to easily carry it around.
Just place them under the pedals or stands and you’re ready to go!
All you have to do is to place these pads under the rubber tips of the pedals and stands! It’s that easy! These pads are also great because they can be used for drum sets with silent heads (e.g. mesh heads), practice kits, and electronic drums regardless of the manufacturer.

The TIBP1 pedal pad can be placed under a bass drum pedal or hi-hat stand.
The anti-vibration mechanism consists of 26 rubber balls on the bottom of the pad that allow for stability during performance. Molded in one piece of rubber, the pad suppresses most resonance and absorbs vibrations.
In addition, the pad’s thin and compact design does not interfere with other stand legs when used in conjunction with twin pedals. The pad is fitted to the pedal plate perfectly for a sleek appearance.
The TIBL1 leg pad can be placed under the stand legs or the rubber tips of the bass drum spurs.
The pad has a stopper that looks like a wall to prevent the bass drum legs from slipping off the pad while playing.

This stopper prevents the legs from moving from front to back or side to side, which is a concern for drummers during performance.
(If your bass drum spur has a spike on the tip, just fit the spike into the hole for better stability!)
As a side note, the TIBP1 pedal pad cannot be used alone and must be used with the TIBL1 leg pad.
Review after trying them out
The anti-vibration rubber balls on the bottom of the pad fits tightly to the floor, so not only does the drummer feel the anti-vibration effect, but it also helps to prevent the slippage, which allows the drummer full freedom during performance.
The Iso-Base Sound Reduction Pad can be a saving grace for those who play electronic drums for home practice and also for those who have trouble keeping the kick pedal or hi-hat pedal from going out of position while playing the drums.
Please note that the TIBP1 pedal pad is approximately 3 cm thick and the TIBL1 leg pad is approximately 2 cm thick, so if you are uncomfortable with any slight changes in height, you may need to adjust the height of the stand.
If you don’t know how to reduce vibrations or if you are considering starting with electronic drums, the Iso-Base Sound Reduction Pad will provide you with excellent practice at home.
