Hey all you drummers out there! Do you have your own drum set?
There are many different types of drum sets and it's hard to know what to buy.
It's a big purchase so you can't afford to make a mistake.
So, I would like to introduce to all of you PEARL's drum sets, the Compact Traveler and the ADD-ON Kit. I recommend these sets to those who buy a drum set for the first time, not to mention for street gigs, or to those who have a hard time buying a drum set because they don't have a place to put it at home.

Let's start with the product specifications.
The Compact Traveler consists of an 18“ bass drum and a 10” snare drum, and the “ADD-ON Kit” consists of a 10“ high tom & 14” floor tom, which can be used together as a simple one-tom drum kit. The bass drum comes with a foldable rack that can be used to mount a snare drum.
As for the tom toms, each comes with a PPS-37 mounting adapter, which can be attached to a cymbal stand or hi-hat stand for free setting. The contents are as follows:
■ PEARL / PCTK-1810BG Compact Traveler
- 10” Snare drum
- 18” Bass Drum
- Tum mounting bracket
- Dedicated bag
PEARL / PCTK-1810BG Compact Traveler

Have you noticed?

You can store your drum set in these two bags!
This ease of use and storage capacity is very attractive! When not in use, it can be stored in a closet.

Let's start by assembling the Compact Traveler.
After taking it out of the case, I was able to easily assemble it by simply opening up the legs and placing the snare drum on them!
Although drum sets have an image of taking a long time to set up, it took only 2 to 3 minutes to complete the assembly after taking it out of the case.

The bass drum and snare drum are integrated into one very smart unit, so it is very attractive to set up in a small space.
As for tuning, unlike regular size drum sets, only the hitting surface needs to be adjusted, making it very easy to handle. I would fiercely recommend this set to drum beginners.
Furthermore, the drum heads can be replaced just like regular drum sets. You can replace it with any drum head you like.
I added a hi-hat cymbal, a crash cymbal, and a kick pedal so that I could start playing. The size, including the chair, was 130 x 130 cm, which is enough to fit.
The lack of a bass drum shell is another nice feature of this product.

Now, let's set up the ADD-ON Kit next.
Once a cymbal stand was prepared, it was very easy to set up using the included mounting adapter.
The degree of freedom in the settings, including angle adjustment, exceeds that of a full-size drum set, and it can be used in all kinds of situations. Even as a 155cm player, I felt that the size of the player didn’t matter.

Even though it is so compact, the tom toms are 10“ and 14”, so it has enough volume to make you feel as if you are playing a full-size drum set.
The ADD-ON Kit can be configured into a 1-tom version by matching cymbals, making it suitable for jazz and other stage performances.
The snare and toms can be mounted on a hi-hat stand or in other configurations to suit the player's preference. By adding more hardware, you can create even more configurations.

The playing feel is similar to that of a small-diameter drum set, as you will see when you actually play this set. By changing the tuning of the drumhead and head, it can be used for multiple genres, and I hope you will use it at outdoor performances like street gigs.
What did you think of PEARL's Compact Traveler and ADD-ON Kit?
They are sure to be useful in a variety of situations, from practicing at home to outdoor gigs. I think they will be useful for those who already have a drum set. You can take this opportunity to go get one!
