My name is Mickey. Son (house dog) of Masayuki Ichihara from the Sound House Sales Department! Previously, I introduced the JBL speaker and ELECTRO-HARMONIX guitar effector RAVISH SITAR, and it was a big hit, so this time, I’m going to talk about a wonderful product in vol. 2 of this blog series about Dad's search for guitar cases that will fit his Rickenbacker guitar and bass! Woof! I, the clever good-looking boy, Mickey the dog, will introduce a really cool bass case for the Rickenbacker 4001!
The Rickenbacker 4001 bass.
The 4001 is a famous model by the American brand Rickenbacker, and it is a masterpiece that has been played by British rock icons such as Paul McCartney, early Pink Floyd, the Who, and even the Jam.
Daddy also admired British rock and the Rickenbacker, so when he was 20, he bought an old Rickenbacker 4001 on credit.
Daddy had been playing this bass for nearly 10 years in a band and he loved it so much that he is rumored to have received no. 1 sexiest man who looked good with a Rickenbacker in the popular women's magazine, anan, which was posted on a certain pop guitar band’s webpage. Woof! Nevertheless, he left his bass in the closet for almost 20 years after he quit the band.
Then, when my daddy decided to have a gig after a long break, he took out his 4001 and it didn’t play at all, so he had it repaired and the pickup replaced with a SEYMOUR DUNCAN SRB-1b, recommended by an acquaintance. My dad tried it, and it sounded wonderful! He immediately took it to practice, and his band members were impressed by the tone.
However, the only bass cases he had were a hard case that came with the bass and a 20-year-old soft case. His band members made fun of him for the old-fashioned faux-leather soft case with a fading design. The PLAYTECH EB-Bag is what my dad finally found. *The image is the EB-Bag Khaki

He wasn’t sure if his 4001 fit in the case but he bought it anyway...
The height is OK! There’s still a little room! How about the width?...
It barely made it! However, he has to be careful. As you can see in the picture, the horn part by the neck is quite tight, so he has to pull the zipper part out when closing it, otherwise, the zipper scratches the bass. That’s the only part where he has to pay attention. This reasonably priced EB-Bag is good enough. This case has a lot of pockets, and it’s so convenient. Woof!
The pocket on the top is perfect for a strap or a tuner.
Guys who are my Daddy’s age still often rent and borrow DVDs and CDs, so it might also be a good idea to put them here!
3 DVDs fit with no problem! By the way, the manga books he reads while waiting to play a gig also fit here.
Now he can read through volumes 1 to 3!
There is another thin pocket with a zipper in front of the upper pocket so you can put picks or strap locks here.

The large pocket at the bottom has plenty of space so you can even fit a long cable. If you play in a cover band, you can even put music books here. My Daddy tried with what he had and could fit 4 books in here!
Here’s another pocket in the front.
It’s good for guitar strings and CDs!
Also! There’s another thin pocket here!
It might be good to put your studio membership card!
In the back, I found a transparent pocket about the size of a business card!
By the way, as talked about previously in the blog post about the AG-Bag, my daddy puts the downloadable card that often comes with new records!
Well, the next time he went to the studio, it happened!
“I'm going to play the bass at the school festival, so I'll get this one!” Now this bass case has become his daughter's! It’s probably easy to use even for a 156-cm tall junior high school student. Her favorite color is green and she ended up taking it from him! Aroo! Poor Daddy!!
