What kind of image do you have when you think of Warwick basses?
A small body, downward facing pegs, carefully selected wood, unique paint, etc., and of course the sound? Lately, Warwick basses are equipped with unique MEC pickups instead of EMG, giving a dynamic and a lasting impression that is unique to active basses.
These basses are so recognizable that anyone could easily glance at them from a crowd and immediately pick out a Warwick.
No wonder Warwick manufactures not only their own brand of pickups, but they also make hardware, and of course, knobs, nuts, and truss rod covers.
This time, I would like to introduce some of their gorgeous bass parts.
■Nuts
WARWICK / Just A Nut III Graphite 38.5 mm
This is a graphite nut. It's a lot more durable than plastic and graphite doesn't need to be replaced frequently. With low friction and good sustain, it's a bit like the brass nuts I'm going to mention later, but the sound feels less shrill.
WARWICK / Just A Nut III Brass 38.5 mm
Brass is very conductive and provides a smooth sustain and rich overtones. Since the strings are also metal, the durability is outstanding. However, it may rust due to deterioration over time, so frequent care is required.
Both of them are difficult to produce compared to other materials such as plastic, but it's safe because it's a Warwick's genuine replacement nut.
By the way, the most amazing thing is that the height is adjustable. You can adjust the nut height via hex key screws on both sides of the nut.
■Bridges
WARWICK / 30116G
WARWICK / SP W 30115 4BB
These bridges are uniquely designed with a combined sustain block. The height of the bridge is not only adjustable, but the spaces between the strings are also fully adjustable, so you set up your strings to suit your guitar.
■Machine Head Buttons
WARWICK / SP W 30040 BUB B Bubinga
WARWICK / SP W 30040 CAR B Birchwood Burl
WARWICK / SP W 30040 CBB B Buckeye Burl
WARWICK / SP W 30040 E B Ebony
WARWICK / SP W 30040 PPH B Purpleheart
These machine head buttons are what I wanted to introduce the most because I love wooden parts. They come with screws, so they can be replaced immediately. Also, the screws are available in the 3 colors black, gold, and chrome, so you can match them with your pegs.
The Warwick downward facing pegs are not only for aesthetics, but the downward pegs are meant to make it easier to tune. It's wonderful to see the compassion for users in every detail.
■Knobs
WARWICK / SP 30420 EBONY
For some reason, wooden knobs are rarely seen. This is a 6 mm diameter metric size shaft with a side screw. Fortunately, it's compatible with non-Warwick basses! As long as the shaft diameter matches, it should fit either the metric or inches sizing for split shafts, and metric sizing for solid shafts. The stacked knob is also available.
■Truss Rod Covers
WARWICK / SP W 50450 E Ebony
WARWICK / SP W 50450 F Flamed Maple
All Warwick basses are equipped with the original truss rod cover. I think the flamed maple is rare even in wooden parts. It would be so cool to have the truss rod cover replaced as an accent.
This lineup of replacement parts lets you freely adjust your bass in pursuit of playability and sound, and other products from Warwick allow users to customize their basses as they like.
I think that's the reason why Warwick basses are loved by many bass players.
