You!!!!!!!!!
You want me to just pour all of my money into guitar equipment?!!!!!!!!!!
[WOOOOOOOAHHHHHHHHHHHH!]
I’m S., a high school guitarist, and I would like to start with the call and response of a student guitarist's dream.
Happy New Year, everyone!
2025 has finally begun! I am just filled with anticipation for what this year will bring.
Now, to all of you student guitarists, have you decided what to do with your New Year's money?
Some of you may want to buy some guitar-related equipment, but don't know what to buy.
In this issue, I would like to suggest some goods for those guitarists who are not sure what to buy! I hope you will find something useful!
01 Straps
As a guitarist, you will often go on stage. During such times, a strap is one of the most eye-catching fashion items. Why don't you take this opportunity to buy a new one?
FENDER / Fender 2” Monogrammed Strap, Black/Yellow/Brown
The Fender 2” Monogrammed Strap, Black/Yellow/Brown is FENDER's classic strap in the fashion trend of 2025, brown, and is designed to look great with any guitar!
ERNIE BALL / 4259 PICKHOLDER STRAP WHITE
In a similar price range, the ERNIE BALL 4259 PICKHOLDER STRAP WHITE is also a good choice! This strap has a pick holder and is very functional! As you can see in the picture of the product, it would be cool to put picks in there that are the same color as the color of the strap to accentuate the strap!
DIMARZIO / 2 INCH NYLON CLIPLOCK DD2200 BK
The strap I used for a while was DIMARZIO's 2 INCH NYLON CLIPLOCK DD2200 BK. This somewhat sporty strap is made of nylon, which makes it very slippery. When moving while playing, the strap slips to keep the guitar in place, allowing the player to continue playing steadily!
As you can see, there are many types of straps. Please try to find one that suits you based on your preferences for material and shape!
02 Effects Pedal
Finally, I have to introduce these effects pedals. Let's look for one with our New Year's money for around 10,000 yen!
However, there are too many effects pedals to introduce, so I will introduce a few distortion masterpieces that can be used by everyone!
The NUX 6ixty 5ive OD is a distortion effect pedal modeling the legendary Fender amps of the 60s. Aside from its great sound, the true value of this effect pedal lies in its distortion range and EQ. This range of sound creation, which can compensate for everything from sweet crunch to intense distortion, is not often found in this price range. Next time I buy a distortion effect pedal, this is the first pedal on my list.
TC ELECTRONIC / MojoMojo Overdrive
Next up is TC ELECTRONIC's MojoMojo Overdrive. Compared to the 6ixty 5ive OD, this effect pedal is more suitable for Western rock, and can complement lead playing as well as backing. The main difference between this effect pedal and the others is that it is a true bypass. The fact that it is a low-priced overdrive that can be used without worrying about sound loss is what makes this effect pedal a masterpiece.
TC ELECTRONIC / TUBE PILOT OVERDRIVE
Lastly, I want to introduce the TUBE PILOT OVERDRIVE, also by TC ELECTRONIC. TC excels at producing high quality effects pedals at low prices. This effect pedal is equipped with a vacuum tube. The sound of this product at this price is an alchemy. I like to use this pedal at the end of my board to add warmth to the sound, and the easy 2-knob operation is a big advantage.
There are many more good effects that I could not write about here, but I have introduced these three. Did you find a sound you like?
03 Capotast
Have you ever bought a capo just because you didn't care what it was and have been using it ever since? In fact, the world of capos is a very deep one, and I would like to introduce two capos with excellent functionality!
GLIDER / THE ROLLING CAPO (GL-1)
GLIDER's THE ROLLING CAPO (GL-1) is a capotasto that can be easily transposed while playing. The hourglass-shaped part on the back of the neck can be pulled or pushed in with the thumb to modulate the tuning.
The one that will appeal to the slightly more guitar nerd crowd is TONE GEAR's SPIDER CAPO. What sets this capo apart from others is that each string is independent. In other words, you can tune irregularly without tuning, just by inserting this capo. This makes me smile, as I love mass rock. This is the next piece of equipment I am going to buy.
What do you think? I hope that the contents of this issue will be helpful to you in choosing the right equipment!
By all means, buy lots of equipment and enjoy your guitar to the fullest!
Have a great guitar life!
