  ザ・ゴールデン・カップスのギタリスト兼ボーカルとして活躍した、エディ藩さんが死去。享年77歳。
  1966年、横浜・本牧でバンド活動していたデイヴ平尾に誘われ、ザ・ゴールデン・カップスの前身バンドであるグループ・アンド・アイを結成。ともに渡米した際に最先端の音楽を目の当たりした経験から裏打ちされた演奏力とセンスにより、瞬く間に本格実力派バンドとして注目を浴びるようになりました。レコードデビューの際に、バンド名をゆかりのある本牧のレストランバー「ゴールデン・カップ」にちなんでザ・ゴールデン・カップスに改名。1stシングル『いとしのジザベル』をリリース。グループサウンズの代表的なバンドの中でも、ステージでの不良なイメージ、日本語のヒット曲を出しても洋楽のロックやR&Bナンバーを中心とした選曲などのライブでは異才を放ち、横浜発のバンドならではのハイセンスな活動を続けていました。
  バンドはミッキー吉野の参加をはじめ、メンバーの加入や交代を経て1972年まで活動。解散後は音楽活動を控えていた時期もありましたが、2002年日本のロック史上屈指のドキュメンタリー映画「ザ・ゴールデン・カップス ワンモアタイム」の制作とバンドの再結成を発表。
  渋谷公会堂にて行われたライブ『THE GOLDEN CUPS MAXIMUM R&B LIVE 2004』にてリアルタイムから若い追体験組までもが集まったオーディエンス達を熱狂させていました。その後デイヴ平尾はじめ歴代メンバーの死去を経ながらも、ライブ活動を通してザ・ゴールデン・カップスの凄まじい歴史を伝えてきた日本のロック・アイコン、エディ藩さん。ご冥福を心よりお祈り申し上げます。
