  Innovative Van Halen guitarist Eddie Van Halen has died after a long battle with cancer. The announcement was made on Twitter by his son, Wolfgang Van Halen. He was 65 years old. Van Halen made their debut in 1978 with the self-titled "Van Halen". Songs such as "Jump" and "Panama" from later albums became hits in Japan. Eddie is also known for popularizing the "right hand tapping technique" in which the strings are tapped with the fingers of the right hand, and his playing methods and sound still has a great influence on guitarists around the world decades after their debut album.
