Shoulder rests are a necessary item for stabilizing the violin while you play.
Many people may continue to use the shoulder rests that came with their violin set or that they purchased previously for a long time. In this issue, I would like to introduce the violin shoulder rests recommended for such people!
How to choose the best shoulder rest for your violin
I recommend that you choose one based on shape!
Bridge type- for those who feel they need more height

If you feel that you are needing some height and stability in your shoulder rest, I recommend a bridge type! This shape is the most common type of shoulder rest for violins, and each manufacturer seems to have the most products with this type of shoulder rest. As shown in the photo, it is firmly fixed at the edge of the instrument’s backboard, and the legs can be adjusted to fit the size of the violin. These types of shoulder rests are made with various materials, including wooden and lightweight plastic ones!
Cushion type- for those who prefer a lower height and more instrumental resonance

A cushion type is recommended for those who do not need much height. There are various types, such as a type that is used by hanging a string on an endpin, or a type that is attached directly to the back of the instrument with gel! By attaching it to the position of your choice, you can hold the instrument without discomfort.
Here are the different types of shoulder rests. From here, I would like to introduce our recommended shoulder pads at Sound House! Please take a look!
