My summer has come to an end with the end of Summer Sonic 2023, even though it’s still damn hot in September!
Wet Leg was lovely and fun, I did ‘woohoo’ with Blur, and Kendrick Lamar was divine.
I saw a lot more bands and musicians, but all the acts were great. One of the best things about music festivals is that you get to experience genres of live music that you don’t normally listen to.
(Please Google for reports on the acts you’re interested in☆)

By the way, it was especially hot this year. It was too hot. It was incomparably hotter than ever before, and I realized that “this is what we call a dangerous heat...!” On the first day, when I was outside in the daytime, it was so hot that I could only drink a glass of beer, and after that I had cold barley tea in my insulated bottle for the rest of the day. Eventually, I started to get a headache and my head started to feel fuzzy, and the smartwatch on my wrist told me that my pulse was fast, which was a bad sign. I evacuated and sat down in the shade of a walkway outside the stadium to rest. Looking back, I must have been on the verge of a heat stroke. In fact, I saw some people who had fainted and were being rescued by staff, so it doesn’t matter if you’re used to the summer music festivals or not.
Cooling bottles were a big help! When the drink in my bottle ran out, I bought a cold drink at the venue and filled it up. Thank goodness it’s cold. You should definitely take it with you when you go to hot places.
Wild Bird Society of Japan / Original Water Bottle Hawk Pillar (Navy)
I should have brought the handy fan because the stadium was too hot due to the sunshine! Why didn't I bring it with me?... (regret) I’ll definitely bring it next year.
LOGOS / Petit Fan (USB Rechargeable)
By the way, there is also one that can produce cold air with refrigerant in it!
LOGOS / Body Air Conditioner Twin Cool (Olive)
It’s too hot to stop sweating, so it’s good to have a towel with high water absorbency.
On the second day, Sunday, I was inside the Makuhari Messe until the evening, so I didn’t suffer from any symptoms like heat stroke. Thanks to this, I was able to eat festival food (beef tongue and yam rice was delicious) and beer!
Once the sun went down, the stadium outside was better, or rather, the occasional sea breeze was very pleasant.
The fireworks that went off at the end of the performance by headliner Kendrick Lamar were a big hit, and really added to the afterglow of his show. I had a blast this year again.
By the way, the drone show was amazing.

That’s all for now! Next stop: Asagiri JAM!
