Line 6’s "DL4" was released in 2000 and quickly became the gold standard for delay pedals.
Equipped with 16 types of delays based on the legendary echo and delay boxes, this masterpiece has realized a quality unmatched by any other pedal.
The DL4, which is still used by many musicians as well as guitarists, is now available as the MkII.
I think there are a lot of people who are asking, "What has actually changed from the old model?
In this article, I would like to discuss the differences between the old model and the newly reborn MkII.
Line 6 / DL4 MkII Delay Modeler
Basic Information
Using Line 6's modeling technology, the DL4 delivers the sound of classic analog delay and tape machine effects in an easy-to-use, compact chassis.
The DL4 requires no maintenance and has revolutionized conventional wisdom of delay machines.
This modeling technology is a Line 6 commitment. Every detail of each amp and effect was captured in the lab while actually blasting the amps and effects at full volume.
By reproducing the circuits themselves, rather than just modeling the sound, I was able to achieve an operational feel similar to that of the real thing.
Simple operation
Simply select the model to be used with the leftmost knob, adjust the parameters with the remaining knobs, and save by pressing and holding the footswitch.
Stereo input/output is also available, so it can be used not only for guitars and basses, but also for vocals and keyboards.

DL4 MkII - The Evolution of the DL4 MkII
The DL4 MkII maintains its high quality delay sound and adds 15 new MkII delays.
Looper can record up to 240 seconds (further expandable with microSD card)
The range of use is greatly expanded by the use of a microphone input, MIDI jack, and even external expression pedals and footswitches.
A total of 30 patterns can be selected, including 15 MkII delays that inherit technology from the company's HX series of multi-effects pedals, 14 delays from the original DL4, and the Echo Platter, which was imported from the Echo Pro.

Further Evolved DL4 MkII
The DL4 MkII, which is equipped with numerous delays, is now also equipped with a reverb model that is not indicated on the main unit.
The DL4 MkII is equipped with a reverb model that is not indicated on the main unit. 15 major reverbs from the "Helix / HX series" can be selected from this model.
When "looper" is selected for the model, "Classic Looper" can be used, which uses four switches on the main unit.
The looper recording time of the main unit is significantly longer than that of the older DL4, up to 240 seconds (Half Speed, Mono).
It can be extended to several hours with the use of a microSD card (sold separately).
In addition, the DL4 features a "1 Switch Looper" that uses only the TAP switch.
Concluding
The DL4 MkII inherits all the sounds and features of the original DL4 delay modeler, but adds 15 new MkII delays inherited from the HX family of amplifiers/effects.
The looper has evolved significantly with the ability to record up to 240 seconds.
The DL4 also features an XLR mic input and MIDI jack, three bypass options, and the ability to connect an external expression pedal or footswitch.
The DL4 MkII is a great evolution of the DL4 MkII while continuing on with the DL4 tradition.
