Right Now! Recommended Bands and Artists for People in their 20’s

Spring is here!
Although the recent coronavirus situation is still unchanged, Japanese bands are still producing great music on a daily basis.

In this issue, I want to focus on such bands and pick up the hottest songs that I highly recommend for all the people in their 20’s!

Let's get started.

■ paionia / manual

I was so impressed when I heard this song on the radio.
The light guitar backup and Yusei Takahashi's straight and clear voice are beautiful.

The band has been active since 2011, and despite the departure of their drummer, they will release a single every month from March to September in 2019!

The song “Manual” was made into a single in December 2021 and is the fourth track of the second album “Pre Normal” was released in February 2022.

The lyrics are quite short, but in my opinion, they seem to only go to the heart of the matter.
The style of the song and the lyrics together seemed to create a worldview of the difficulty of living as an adult (personal opinion).

■ TENDOUJI / Stupid!!

TENDOUJI was known for “Orangejuice”. But, they are still releasing more powerful songs, and I can't catch up with them.

The sound production is like the royal road of alternative rock.
The band's punk-like style of playing is very cool.

“Stupid!!” is a fast and furious song that makes you want to run around if you could hear it live.
TENDOUJI's lyrics are all in English, but I recommend listening to them with the lyrics card so you can fully understand their meaning.

This song is the second track from the album Smoke!! that was released in December 2021.

■ Kaneko Ayano / Hoyo (Embrace)

Kaneko Ayano has a thick voice that is reminiscent of Miyuki Nakajima.
The atmosphere of “Embrace” and the lyrics together with the quiet place make you feel the warmth of being in your hometown.

Kaneko Ayano's amazing voice can be felt even when she performs solo, but with a band, it is even more powerful.
The band members include Hirotoshi Hayashi, formerly from Odotte Dotte Dotte no Kuni, on guitar, Takuma Motomura of Yuranbune on bass, and Bob from HAPPY on drums, all of whom are top-notch, super-eccentric artists with outstanding presence.
A Budokan live concert will be held in November 2021. The activities will still be expanding in the future!

This song is the first song on the Yosuga album released in May 2021.
You can listen to the whole song in the “Yosugi Hitori ni” (Yosugi by Itself) version, so it's a must-listen!

■ SUNNY CAR WASH / Kill Me

This song is a little earlier than the songs I have introduced so far.
I think fans of the band at that time were captivated by the musicality of the song, which reminded them of “andymori”.
I feel that the song sings what comes to mind and what they want to say, and it seems to share the same energy with the listeners (this is my personal impression).

SUNNY CAR WASH broke up after a live performance in December 2021.

The demo CD of this song was sold at live venues when the band was first formed.
The first track on the mini-album “Tired of Waiting for the Weekend” released in November 2017.
The first album “Haneda.” was released in February 2022! “Haneda! Haneda! Haneda!” is also included on the album.

■ Jisoku 36km / Hello

This is a song that appeals to the listener to keep on living with the tapping lyrics, the instrumental performance pulls it off with the all-out power of the vocals.

Jisoku 36km is such a hot band that even a national cartoonist says “No. 1 thing I'm into right now”.
They are a strong band that puts in a beefy live show, even in this day and age.

Anyway, I would recommend this band to the generation that has listened to BUMP OF CHICKEN and Hanuman who are modern band fans and young people!
The other songs also have realistic lyrics that focus on a person living in today's world and will resonate with many people
I hope you feel cheated with the world and listen to this song “Hello” once.

■ CHAI & STUTS / Nobody Knows We Are Fun (STUTS Remix)

This song is a change from the previous ones. CHAI is a girls' band that is working on the concept of “NEO Cute” and “Complexity is Art”.

It's a world view that lives up to the words “New Excite Onna Band (NEO)” and should be listened to at night (especially after midnight or 11:00 pm).
If you like computer music, you will definitely be into this and if you are looking for a cute type of music, you should definitely listen to this!

This song is the first track on the EP WINK TOGETHER, which was released in February 2022.
From “WINK”, which will be released in May 2022, the EP includes 6 songs collaborated with musicians from 5 different countries around the world, and the other songs have a strong impact.
Artists who are expanding overseas should not miss out!
