Taka and Ayaka’s New Collaboration Single, “Victim of Love”, Will Be Released on January 19!

Singer-songwriter Ayaka has released a new track in collaboration with Taka from ONE OK ROCK!

Since the [Re:]project in 2020, Taka has released "Curtain Call" with Shota Shimizu, and has been showing new activity amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He has now revealed his eagerly awaited collaboration track, "Victim of Love.

For this track, Ayaka handled the composition while Taka took on the lyrics. The song features a mix of Japanese and English lyrics, and the rhythm and melody have a vibe reminiscent of Western music. The arrangement is centered around the piano, with echoing drums adding a sense of grandeur. Both artists sing in the same key, showcasing Taka's high tones and Ayaka's rich low tones, making each part's charm stand out. This song presents a fresh style that isn’t seen in Ayaka's solo work. With its calm yet somewhat melancholic atmosphere, it can be considered a sophisticated love ballad. If this song makes its way into karaoke, it will surely become a popular duet choice!

The producer for this track is Uta, who has not only worked with Japanese artists like UVERworld and Namie Amuro but also provided music for numerous renowned international artists, including BTS and TVXQ. His expertise has undoubtedly elevated this song to a global level.
The song was created remotely, with voice memos used to review the lyrics and melody.

I remember watching an Instagram live session with Taka and Ayaka, where Taka performed a cover of "Mikazuki" in front of Ayaka. I hoped they would collaborate on a song together, so I’m truly delighted that it has come to fruition.

It seems that this collaboration was made possible thanks to the [Re:]project. The project members include Taka, Shota Shimizu, Ayaka, Daichi Miura, Mao Abe, Aimer, Kenta (Wanima), and Nissy (Takahiro Nishijima). Since collaborations with three of these members have already been realized, as a ONE OK ROCK fan, I can’t help but hope that songs with all the project members might come into existence, and I’m already looking forward to the next collaboration.

Additionally, Taka is also about to release a new album with his band, and I’m eagerly anticipating what kind of songs we’ll get to hear from that as well.

The track included in Ayaka's new album is being released as a single in advance, and there is growing attention on her other songs as well. Her album LOVE CYCLE will be released on February 1, 2022. I’m definitely looking forward to checking that out too!
