ZOOM / A1X Four has been very well received since it was released last year. Personally, I rarely use effects pedals on acoustic guitars, but I decided to try the A1X Four after my coworker recommended it to me.
Wow... It was so good. . . It's really fun and the sound is good!
It’s beyond expression, and all I came up with was just those simple words… I wish I had known about it earlier.
The A1X Four can be used on acoustic guitars, saxophones, trumpets, violins, harmonica, wood basses, and so on. In this blog, I would like to review the A1X Four, and talk about how great it is!!
Settings,

Surprisingly, the power turned on automatically as soon as it was plugged in!
If you use four AA batteries, the power turns ON when a cable is connected to INPUT.
Other settings are also very simple. All you need to do is just connect your guitar to A1X INPUT and A1X OUTPUT to mixer.

The effects can be switched with the footswitches marked in red. All of the effects are managed in patch memories, and the patch memories are managed in banks of ten patch memories. You can create up to 50 patch memories. Factory presets are already registered in patch memory 10 to 49.

The photo shows the effect "AG J-45" in patch memory 11. This is the Gibson J-45 sound as the name suggests. You can change the patch memories by stepping on the footswitches.

Next, let’s adjust the parameters of the effect in the selected patch memory. In order to do that, you need to set the unit to EDIT mode with the button next to the display. Now turn the knob to adjust the parameters.
* Note
The A1X has three modes, depending on the purpose.
● MEMORY mode: Select a patch memory. It starts with this mode when power is turned on.
● STOMP mode: Switch the effect ON / OFF.
● EDIT mode: Change effects and adjust parameters.
However, how can we know what effect is registered in which patch memory. You wouldn’t want to try one by one. . . .

Here is the solution! The package contains a useful list. It took me about 30 minutes to find this… If only I had noticed earlier…
By the way, while choosing the effects, two buttons kept grabbing my attention.

It has a rhythm machine and a LOOPER! ! ! There are 68 drum patterns in total, including Funk, Cajon, Blues, and Jazz. For the LOOPER, you can easily REC / PLAY and STOP with the foot switches.
With a combination of effects, rhythm machine and LOOPER, I can play the guitar all day, and it is also good tool for practicing improvising!
The ZOOM / A1X FOUR is a multi-effector designed for various acoustic instruments including saxophones and trumpets, as well as guitars as explained at the beginning. By connecting a microphone to the included MAA-1, it can be used for instruments that do not have a pickup. There are many other useful functions such as a tuner and an anti-feedback function. Please check it out!
