<XS Wireless 1 Series Handheld Model: XSW 1-825>
From music events and lectures to presentations, ceremonies, and community association gatherings, wireless microphones are essential in a wide variety of settings. Over the years, many entry-level wireless systems that are license-free and budget-friendly have been on the market. Among them, the XS Wireless 1 series recently launched by SENNHEISER is positioned as an entry-level model in the lower price range.
In this review, I would like to explore whether the XSW 1-825 truly offers the ease of use that anyone can handle, and how its performance measures up against its price.
The XS Wireless 1 series includes the handheld microphone XSW 1-825, the dual handheld set XSW 1-825 DUAL, the lavalier-type XSW 1-ME2 ideal for speeches, and the headset-type XSW 1-ME3. For this review, I will focus on the XSW 1-825.
A Wireless Microphone Set That Includes Everything You Need

<Contents of the XSW 1-825>
When you open the package, you’ll find everything you need to get started with a wireless microphone system already included.
This wireless microphone comes with a handheld microphone that has a built-in transmitter, batteries for the transmitter, a receiver, a power adapter and attachments for the receiver, and a microphone holder. The only thing not included is a microphone stand, so even if your event is on the same day the set arrives, you can start using it right away.
The protruding section at the bottom of the transmitter acts as the antenna, and this design is the same as that used in higher-end models. Known as a shark-fin antenna design, it’s likely to appeal to many users due to its professional look.

<Included Microphone Holder and Adapter Screw>
The microphone holder is an essential accessory, especially since wireless microphones often have thicker bodies and may not fit standard holders. Fortunately, the XSW 1-825 comes with a dedicated holder, so there’s no need to worry about compatibility.
Additionally, the holder includes a threaded adapter, allowing it to fit most microphone stands. (The holder side follows the 5/8" SHURE standard, while the stand side uses a 3/8" AKG standard adapter screw.)

<Packaging That Also Serves as a Carrying Case>
The package features a handle, making it usable as a storage and transport case even after purchase. This is convenient because it allows you to safely carry the equipment without needing a separate microphone or gear case.
Easy Setup—No Degree in Sound Engineering Necessary
For those who aren’t audio professionals, a common hesitation when considering a wireless microphone is the fear of not being able to use it properly. What stood out about the XSW 1-825 is how simple it is to set up. Even without any previous knowledge of wireless systems or audio equipment, you can start using it with minimal effort.
Since a wireless microphone is essentially a radio device, it transmits audio signals via radio waves. This means the transmitter and receiver need to be tuned to the same frequency, which is just like a typical radio communication device.

<Press and Hold SET/SCAN to Activate Auto Scan Function>
The XSW 1-825 features an auto-scan function, so there’s no need to worry about choosing the right frequency. Simply press and hold the [SET/SCAN] button on the receiver to activate the auto-scan function. It will automatically search for an available frequency and set up the receiver for you.

<Press and Hold SYNC to Activate Auto Sync Function>
Then, press and hold the [SYNC] button on the receiver, while simultaneously pressing and holding the [SYNC] button on the bottom of the transmitter (the microphone). This activates the auto-sync function, which automatically configures the transmitter settings.

<Frequency Automatically Set Using Auto Setup Function>
Once the setup is complete, the same number will appear on both the receiver and transmitter displays. This number represents the frequency setting: the first digit indicates the band, and the second digit indicates the channel. For example, [14] means Band 1, Channel 4.
With that, setup is complete—you’ve configured the frequency settings easily and without hassle.
As a side note, you may notice that the XSW 1-825 receiver has no visible antenna. That’s because the antenna is built into the body of the receiver itself. Normally, antenna placement requires some experience and technical knowledge, but by integrating the antenna internally, the XSW 1-825 makes setup significantly more beginner-friendly.
Sufficient Features and Specifications for Small-Scale PA Systems
While its features and specifications don’t reach the level of high-end wireless systems, the XSW 1-825 offers everything needed for small-scale events, which is more than sufficient for typical use.

<Balanced and Unbalanced Output Terminals Included>
On the back of the receiver, you’ll find both a balanced XLR output and an unbalanced TS phone jack output. This allows for connection to a wide range of equipment, from professional-grade mixing consoles to simple PA systems. It’s a good idea to check what kind of device you’ll be connecting to and purchase the necessary cables accordingly.

<Microphone Volume Adjustment Switch>
Both the transmitter and receiver come with built-in volume adjustment features, allowing you to adapt to different audio sources and environments with ease.

<Battery Level and Volume Indicators>
The status display features are also excellent. On the receiver side, you can check whether audio is being received (with a two-level indicator) and view the remaining battery level. The battery indicator is especially useful—it allows you to take action before the battery runs out, which is a great help in live event settings. When the battery level is low, the indicator light will turn on.
For an entry-level model at this price point, these features are more than sufficient. It goes without saying that the XSW 1-825 offers outstanding cost performance.
Sound Quality Worthy of the SENNHEISER Name
The XS Wireless 1 series falls under what’s known as B-band analog wireless, using analog signal transmission (wideband FM modulation). While it might seem that the transmission method would heavily influence sound quality, in reality, the microphone capsule itself has the greatest impact.

<グリルを外すと精度高く組まれたマイクユニットが見えるRemoving the Grill Reveals a Precisely Assembled Microphone Capsule>
When you remove the microphone’s grill, you can see the precisely constructed capsule inside—highlighting the careful engineering and quality design behind the unit.
The XSW 1-825 uses the trusted SENNHEISER e 825 dynamic microphone capsule that’s known for its quality. It delivers the punchy, powerful sound characteristic of dynamic mics. The frequency response is 50 to 16,000 Hz (-3 dB), making it well-suited for vocals and speech.
Wireless microphones are needed in a wide variety of situations. In many cases, the budget for audio equipment is limited and the microphone might only be used once a year. It's also rare to need just one wireless channel—most setups require multiple units at once, which can quickly increase costs.
The XS Wireless 1 series offers an effective and reliable solution for low-frequency-use environments and is an ideal, go-to choice not just for musical events but also for cafés, weddings and funerals, presentations, and other non-musical applications.
