Hello!
I’m Kaoru the composer!
This time, I would like to talk about recommended sound sources, specifically “Synth Sound Sources”.
When it comes to synthesizers, they are known as the representative of electronic instruments. Although their history is relatively short, they have become an essential tool for music production.
Especially in genres like EDM and other electronic music, synthesizers are indispensable!
However, when it comes to synth sound sources, there are so many technical terms that it’s often hard to know which one to choose.
So, I’m going to show you some amazing products that you can purchase at Sound House!
UVI / Falcon 2 Software Synthesizer
The all-purpose synth sound source Falcon 2.5 evolved to version 2.5 through a major update in October 2021.
It comes standard with essential tools for sound design which include:
- 16 oscillators
- Over 90 types of effects
- 11 types of modulators
- Sequencer
- Harmonizer
Additionally, nine powerful modulation generators further enhance its flexibility.
Lately, one feature I’ve been enjoying is the newly added TS Overdrive effect.
It reproduces the Tube Screamer overdrive pedal, allowing you to easily create sounds ranging from modern tones to intense, aggressive sounds.
I’m also impressed by its high expandability.
UVI / Savage – Email Delivery
UVI / Eternal Funk – Email Delivery
Installing these expansion sound libraries significantly increases the number of presets available in Falcon.
There are more than 15 other genre-specific expansion libraries, so you can choose and install the ones you like.
I expect Falcon will continue to evolve, so it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Reveal Sound / Spire – Simple Package Delivery
A polyphonic synthesizer useful for producing EDM and other club music.
(By the way, “polyphonic” means it can play multiple notes simultaneously, allowing for chords.)
The abundant presets, organized by category, are all ready for immediate use!
From soft, airy sounds to powerful SuperSaw tones, this synth covers both lead and supporting roles in your tracks.
What I especially like is that the GUI is customizable!
Having an interface that’s visually motivating is very important when designing sounds.
Having used many products, I feel that Spire is a synth that is genuinely fun to operate.
You can check out the sounds in official videos, so take a look if you’re interested!
ARTURIA / PIGMENTS 3 – Simple Package Version
A synthesizer from leading French music production hardware and software manufacturer Arturia.
It excels in ease of use, operability, and visibility, making it intuitive even for beginners.
Pigments 3 added harmonic oscillators and a utility engine.
Along with analog oscillators, filters and other features leverage Arturia’s expertise in analog synths developed in the Arturia V Collection series.
The abundant presets are also a strong point for beginners!
Being relatively new as a synth, it has a very unique design.
It also offers excellent value for the price, making it easy to get started with!
SPECTRASONICS / Omnisphere 2 (USB Drive) – Software Synthesizer

This synth has been a long-time hit and is considered a “standard” in the industry.
It is also famously used by Hikaru Utada.
Omnisphere 2 contains an enormous library of sounds.
Presets are organized by category and genre, so you won’t get lost.
Omnisphere 2 receives regular updates and continues to evolve.
More features will likely be added in the future, which is an exciting prospect.
ARTURIA / V Collection 8 – Software Synthesizer
A bundle that includes a wealth of software synthesizers.
Not only synth sounds, but it also faithfully reproduces many classic instruments such as:
- Organ
- Acoustic piano
- Electric piano
- String machines
This advanced product is packed with Arturia’s unique analog/physical modeling technology.
Highly recommended not only for creators but also for keyboard players!
That concludes my introduction of my recommended sound sources with a focus on synthesizers.
All of these are highly versatile, which can make choosing difficult!
With synths, getting used to them is key, so make sure to use them extensively!!
