Introducing the Organic Drive Ares from Organic Sounds.
The equipment used in the video
Kanji Guitar (Kanji guitar produced by Kanji Kawabata)
Vox type amplifier (produced by Kazuyuki Kawabata)
Two notes Torpedo Live.
The contents of the video are the same as last time, but this time I will write the impressions of the Ares.
○ Features and impressions of Ares
- Unlike Hydra, Ares has a low point at which it begins to distort.
While Hydra behaves a bit like an amp, Ares gives the impression of a typical distortion effector.
You can use it in the same way as a normal distortion effector.
Perhaps it's Ares (rather than Hydra) that you'll be able to use right away. - I totally like this, but Hydra is too boomy when played on a humbucker-equipped guitar, while Ares feels lighter and thinner than Hydra. For that reason, Ares is just right when played on a guitar equipped with a humbucker, and it has a cool distortion.
I wrote that the sound is thin, but this is only when compared with the Hydra, and it is thick compared to other general distortion effectors.
Playing the Ares after playing the Hydra makes the Ares feel a little insufficient. - The texture of the distortion is a rough vintage tone like the Hydra, and it has a withered atmosphere.
As such, the sustain is not long, and it is a distortion that is similar to the distortion from raising the volume of a vintage amp.
To put it bluntly, the distortion is similar to the Boss BD-2, but the actual sound output is completely different, only the tendency of the sound is the same. - The output is as loud as Hydra.
Since the output is loud, you may want to suppress it, but personally, I feel it is more interesting to raise it. The reason is that you can control the tone with just one playing method, without using a volume pedal or the volume control of the guitar. - The buffer is also characteristic and feels like the Hydra.
The buffer is still characteristic, and this is a point where tastes are divided.
It's easy to compare with the centaur, but as I mentioned regarding the Hydra,it's quite different from the impression of the Centaur's buffer.
○ Musicians using these
According to some information I saw recently, Number Girl Hisako Tabuchi used the Ares.
Also, Kentaro Nakao, the bass player, uses the Hydra.
I didn't expect anyone would use the Hydra for the bass, but the Hydra has a considerable thickness of sound, so using it for the bass will give you a considerable thickness and presence.
○ General
I've written about the Hydra and the Ares, but the Organic Sounds effectors have a vivid, vintage-inspired sound. I think it's worth a try if you're a player looking for a withered tone, or if you feel that recent effectors are too light. No matter which one you buy, you won't regret your purchase, and I think that buying two and using them in different ways is also an option.
