One day in the studio, I took the cymbal stand I brought in out of its case and saw…
The wing nut is missing!
I struggled to bring the heavy case to the studio, but I couldn't use it at this crucial practice session.
Isn't this a common situation for drummers?!
Another common pattern is that when you try to assemble a kick pedal, the key bolt is missing. Many of you may have experienced this when you noticed that one of the snare tension bolts had loosened and fallen off and went missing!
I always wonder, "Which part number did I use for this part? I have always lost track of which part number I was looking for and have repeatedly made the mistake of buying the wrong part by just eyeballing it!
PEARL
- ① First, go to the PEARL homepage and click the menu button in the upper right corner of the page. (Red frame in the image below)
- ② Press the Menu button and click the "Spare Parts" item from the display menu (blue frame in the image below).
- ③ From the Spare Parts page, find the model for which you need parts from the Hardware, Drum Pedals, and other items.
This time, let's try to find a wing nut for the standard cymbal stand "BC-830".
Since the BC-830 is a cymbal stand, first select the Hardware and then select Cymbal Boom Stand on the next page.
After proceeding this far, a list page of boom stands will appear from which you can select the item you are looking for (Red frame in the image below).

Clicking on the model name "BC-830" will take you to a page with a development drawing of the stand and part numbers for each part. Find your desired part in this list.
In this case, I was looking for a wing nut, so the A-1-A PL-010 "Plastic Cymbal Nut" is the appropriate part on the list.

First, select the HARDWARE PARTS item, then select the cymbal stand on the next page.
On the next page, each model is displayed, so select "HC43BSN" among them.

YAMAHA
Finally, here is an introduction to the parts of YAMAHA products.
- ① Select "Drums" from the YAMAHA homepage to display the drum category page. (Red frame in the image below)
- ② Select "Special Contents" from the top of the drums page (Red frame in the image below).
- ③ Select the "Drum Parts Search" item from the bottom of the Special Contents page. (Red frame in the image below)
As well as the above two brands, I will try to find a wing nut for the "CS965" cymbal stand, which is a standard item from YAMAHA as well.
Unlike the previous two brands, YAMAHA products are searched by series or model, not by hardware or other categories.
In this case, I know the model name is "CS965", so first I select "Search by model (part number) name" and enter "CS965" on the next page to search. (Red frame in the image below)

Select "CS965" as indicated on the search results page.

Select 2/2 from the page that appears to display an illustration of a cymbal stand.
Click on the number in the illustration of the part you are looking for to confirm the part number.
