The monophonic synthesizer (single-tone synthesizer) section ended with the previous ARP Odyssey and domestic musicians edition of the Synthesizer Keyboard Mad Drifting Record - Electric Keyboards That Colored Music and Many Synth Masterpieces. Part 7 featured the musicians I once interviewed as an extra edition. Since the last monophonic synthesizer edition has taken a break, this time we will take up Jazz Duo Masterpieces as an extra edition. The long autumn nights are for "Jazz Duos"... From Part 11, I am thinking of entering the polyphonic (chord) synthesizer edition.
Chopsticks rest... Extra edition Jazz Duo Masterpieces
Chopsticks rest is an introduction to the Jazz Duo Masterpieces. The duo album is music that exposes the skills of the musicians. There are also many famous records. Since jazz is improvisation (ad lib) -based music, the moment is the game. It's not just "play only the phrases you like". During the opponent's ad lib, the other one backs him up. The backing should not continue to repeat, but should respond to the phrases of the other party. Also, at the end of the opponent's ad lib, you will need a lot of drawers as a player to play a phrase similar to the one you played immediately before, enter your own ad lib, or fake the rhythm.
There are many works in which the power of two or more people is reflected in the music by respecting each other. It is not uncommon for the other party to present a development that you cannot think of, creating a new water vein in your own circuit, which leads to a wonderful performance. I think that meeting other great musicians is a great stage to inspire each other and a treasure trove of masterpieces.
The five albums listed below have different instrumental forms, but you can hear those wonderful moments.
■ Album: "Undercurrent" Bill Evans & Jim Hall

■ Album: "Duo in Paris" M. Petrucciani & E. Luiz

"Undercurrent" is by Bill Evans (pf) and Jim Hall (g) and is said to be a masterpiece of the century in the history of jazz. A quiet world by both masters is developed.。
"Duo in Paris" is a duo of pianist Petrucciani and organist Luis.A duo with fellow keyboardists is rare, and you can listen to the ad lib of two as they scatter sparks.。
■ Album: "Paris Blues" Gil Evans & Steve Lacy

■ Album: "Beyond the Missouri" C. Hayden & P. Metheny

"Paris Blues" is a duo with G. Evans (pf) and S. Lacy (SAX). G. Evans plays with an acoustic piano and a Fender Rhodes electric piano. You can enjoy a musical conversation between the two.。
"Beyond the Missouri" is a duo of bassist C. Hayden and guitarist Pat Metheny.C. Hayden is known as a master of jazz duos and has produced many duo masterpieces. This album also won a Grammy Award. It is a wonderful album that is sublime and delicate, and brings out the excellence of Pat Metheny’s playing. You can see the vast land of America in front of you.
■ Album: "As Falls Wichita" Pat Metheny & Lyle Mays

Since it is serialized under the title of Keyboard Mad Drifting, I would like to introduce an album that features a synthesizer."As Falls Wichita, so Falls Wichita Falls" was released on the ECM label in 1981. A duo album by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. It won the number one spot on the "Billboard" Jazz Album Charts. Brazilian percussionist Nana Vasconcelos is a guest on the Pat Metheny Group's giant duo, Metheny and Maze. The title song has a strong Lyle color rather than a Pat color, and it creates a mysterious landscape. With the bold introduction of synthesizers and sequencers, you can get a glimpse of a progressive touch. Lyle Mays used the Oberheim 4-voice synthesizer at the time to produce a muffled, warm sound. The Oberheim-like and Lyle's patented sound can be heard under the theme of the fourth song, "It's for You". You can catch a glimpse of the depth of the two young players, a technique that breaks the boundaries and the development of music. Nana Vasconcelos's percussion and voice are added, creating a mysterious world. Anyway, the melody that is the theme of the song is wonderful. It's no wonder the Metheny Group turned to a Brazilian flavor after this album. Please listen to the profound world of Jazz Duos. Jazz Duos are for the long autumn nights... I hope you all have a wonderful time...
