POLY D is an analog synthesizer. It offers flexible sound shaping capabilities. It reproduces the characteristics of a classic monophonic synth with expressive solos, bass lines, and portamento.
The “classic” synthesizer you've always dreamed of, now in polyphonic form!
The first truly portable analog synthesizer was born in the 1970s and was quickly adopted by many famous music artists such as Jan Hammer, Chick Corea, Rick Wakeman, Jean Michel Jarre, Isao Tomita, and Keith Emerson. and were also very expensive. The POLY D is a tribute to that iconic synthesizer, and with all the features of the original and all that followed, the Behringer POLY D reproduces any monophonic or polyphonic sound imaginable with incredible subtlety and ease of use. The pure analog signal path is based on authentic VCO, VCF, VCA, and ladder filter designs and a dedicated fully analog analog/square wave LFO. Owning a POLY D is like having your own musical time machine, and you may be able to revive the great sounds of the past or create a new future.
◯Faithful to the original
POLY D is designed with attention to detail, including the original “D-type” circuitry with matched transistors and junction FETs, ultra-precise resistors, and polyphenylene sulfide capacitors. This attention to detail is what gives POLY D its ultra-flexible sound-shaping capabilities. This feature covers everything from super fat bass, lead tones, jaw-dropping effects, progressive organ sounds, and new sounds beyond your imagination.
Three Fat Modes to Choose From
With its legendary VCO, VCF, and VCA circuitry, POLY D's pure analog signal path lets you recreate all its magic, instantly giving you the three best sounds by switching between POLY D's Monophonic, Polyphonic, or Unison modes. Setting POLY D to Mono gives it the characteristics of a classic monophonic synth with richer, more expressive solos, bass lines, and portamento. Switching to Poly allows you to play multiple notes at the same time, generating attractive chord harmonies and intriguing pads that add soul and depth to your music. In unison mode, all POLY D voices are layered to thicken the sound and add overtone components, creating a rich sound.
Fat 24dB ladder filter and VCA
The core of the POLY D sound is the extremely flexible 24dB ladder filter. This filter allows you to freely control the cutoff frequency, the emphasis of the sound, and the contours of the sound for a perfect sound. The filter mode switch on the POLY D can be set to select either low or high frequencies. The attack, decay, and sustain controls can also be adjusted to vary the cutoff frequency over time.
Fat Controls and Connectivity
POLY D has 84 controls laid out to make creating music fun and intuitive. Input and output connections include MIDI in/out and USB/MIDI DIN through. Volume control with velocity and after pressure output V-Trig in/out, external loudness, filter, OSC, and modulation source outputs
