True Stereo Operation with Indented Precision Potentiometers
Stereo Link operation makes adjustments quick and incredibly easy, as one set of controls is used to modify both channels. No time spent trying to match left and right channel settings. The 1974 uses precision potentiometers, finely tuned by technicians for left and right precision, so both channels behave identically and are etched into the operation, giving you excellent precision quickly and easily.

Parametric EQ with Fully Variable Bandwidth
The 1974 is a true ""parametric"" equalizer. The four bands have fully variable frequency controls, providing +/-12dB of cut and boost. Unlike EQs without bandwidth adjustments or simple switches, the two mid bands have fully variable filter bandwidth controls, allowing you to adjust a very narrow portion of the audio spectrum or apply a wide filter with a natural effect. This makes the 1974 incredibly versatile, allowing you to modify everything from subtle fine-tuning mixes to tone sculpting of problematic recordings.

Variable Low/High Cut Filters
The 1974 also features fully variable low/high cut filters, ideal for tuning out unwanted signals: a low cut (high pass) filter with a range of 10Hz to 225Hz and a high cut (low pass) filter from 4kHz to 32kHz. The advantage of being fully variable is that, unlike fixed frequency filters, you can easily turn both controls to remove sounds with pinpoint precision. This is especially useful when you need to cut low to remove rumble or high to remove hiss. These unwanted signals add up as tracks are layered. For example, cutting all instruments below 100Hz, such as kicks, basses and synths, except for those in their spectrum, provides additional headroom and tightens up the bass. The same goes for high frequencies.

Switchable Slope Settings
It is rare to find an analog parametric equalizer with adjustable slope on the low and high band filters. It allows you to adjust the focus of your audio at the lower and upper ends of your recording, but not so harsh that it becomes a very noticeable brick-wall filter. Slopes and peak settings of 6, 9, and 12 dB per octave are available at the lower end, while slopes of 6 and 12 dB per octave are available at the upper end.

The peak setting is a very unique feature in that it adds a narrow bell shape to the 12 dB per octave low-band filter at the knee frequency just before the roll-off. It is particularly effective on kick drums, filtering out subsonic junk and expanding and weighting the hit without muddying the low-mids. It adds a sense of power and precision to your kick.
