By eliminating ""unauthorized"" excessive sound pressure levels, the SL22 provides precise level control and greater user peace of mind in three distinct areas.

Hearing Protection
Controls the level of the dedicated headphone output to protect the hearing of anyone who regularly wears headphones, such as DJs, recording studio sound engineers, and audiophile students. An additional connector on the back can be used for remote data logging or triggering external warning devices.

Regulatory Compliance
The SL22's precise calibration and volume control help venues such as clubs, theaters, pubs, schools, and universities comply with local noise regulations.
Compliance with local regulations is crucial. While many products on the market often take the form of a simple switch that turns off the power or disconnects the speaker, the SL22 is different. It controls volume in a transparent, unobtrusive way, providing natural operation. It does so in a secure manner that's not only responsive and versatile, but also extremely difficult to tamper with. Other features include remote volume adjustment and connection to a fire alarm system, allowing for automatic volume reduction and more prominent alarms in the event of a fire.

SL22は、業界標準のダイナミック処理デバイスの設計に30年間携わってきたDrawmer社の経験と、特に姉妹品として人気の高いSP2120スピーカー・プロテクターから得た経験を生かし、より多用途で豊富な機能を持ちながら、同時にセットアップも簡単に行えるように設計されています。

SL22のフロントパネルにはセキュリティプレートが内蔵されており、最大音量レベルの調整は権限のある担当者のみが行えるようになっています。一度取り外すと、2つのフロント・パネル・プリセットが露出し、設置者が調整できるようになります。1つ目は、プロテクト表示を入力音声に合わせて調整し、「プロテクト」処理を開始するポイントを指定します。2つ目は、サウンド・システムに許容される絶対的な音量レベルを設定します。SL22が増加した信号レベルを受信すると、音質を劣化させることなく指定されたシステム音量レベルを維持する透明な「保護」回路が作動します。セキュリティー・プレートを交換すれば、セキュリティー・ラベル（付属品）を貼ることができ、さらにセキュリティーを強化し、設定を改ざんした証拠を示すことができます。さらに、パネルの右側には3つのLEDインジケーターがあり、シンプルなセットアップを「一目でわかる」モニタリングで補います。

後方から見ると、SL22とSP2120の違いは一目瞭然です。SL22の開発にあたっては、地方自治体の委員会、設置の専門家、会場のオーナーと連絡を取り、それぞれの具体的な要件に合った特性をアドバイスしたり推奨したりしました。その結果、他の多くのサウンドレベルリミッターにはない、より汎用性の高い機能が追加されました。標準的な入出力XLR（オプションの誤動作防止ブラケットで安全にロック可能）に加え、SL22は、XLRと同様に機能する限定的なヘッドフォン出力、火災報知器やオペレーターによる外部制御機能、SL22の動作のデータロギングや壁のライトなどによる外部視覚表示を可能にする接続も備えています。
