The Story of How I Fell into the Camping Gear Rabbit Hole at Sound House - It All Started with a Chair

Since I’m more of a backstage person, I’ll leave the music topics to those who know more. Instead, I would like to introduce you to something I’ve recently gotten into: camping gear!

The First Chair: “LOGOS Yura Yura Hammock Chair”

About six months after I joined Sound House, I was starting to get used to the job and I found myself thinking, “Maybe it’s time to pick up a new hobby.”
Since I had entered the music industry, normally one would think that I would want to start playing an instrument… but for some reason, what caught my eye was this blog post: “What on Earth Is Chairing?”

I’ve lived a pretty indoor lifestyle since becoming an adult. I’m not great with sunlight, so I tend to avoid outdoor events, and when I walk outside, I immediately look for shade. But after reading that article, I thought, “Chairing might actually be something I could do.”

And since I’m the kind of person who has to act immediately once I decide I want to do something, I quickly hit the order button on the featured “LOGOS Yura Yura Hammock Chair.”
(Little did I know that this one click would completely change my world...)

The chair arrived on a Sunday evening. I grabbed it right away and headed to the nearby riverbank.

By the way, although it's quite large and sturdy, it only weighs about 5.2 kg. Even as a woman, I had no trouble carrying it! (Though to be honest, walking around with it for a long time would definitely get tiring...)
It also comes with a storage bag, so if you have a car, you can just leave it in the trunk and go out for a spontaneous “chairing” session whenever you feel like it!

Assembling the Chair

I tried to contain my excitement and started with assembling the chair!

Out of the box is a neatly packed chair in its carry bag

Inside were just two main components: the frame and the seat.

Since it’s a hammock-style chair, I figured the assembly might be tricky… but surprisingly, it only took three simple steps!

1. Unfold the frame
2. Lock the legs in place with the pins
3. Attach the seat to the frame

Things to watch out for!

Be Careful Where You Insert the Pins!

After lightly unfolding the frame, lift the support bar a bit as you open the legs.
Make sure the holes for the lock pins are above the sliding leg parts connected to the support bar. This is where the pins should go!

Don’t Forget the Tip-Over Prevention Strap!

Before setting the chair onto the frame, make sure the frame’s support poles go through the tip-over prevention strap (belt) and the seat fabric.
If you skip this step, the rocking motion won’t be controlled properly and you might end up rocking too much and flipping over!

Take It Slow When Sitting Down!

It rocks, after all ^^;
Grab the handle underneath the seat and lower yourself gently.

How to Enjoy a Hammock Chair

Overall, I felt this chair is more for relaxing than for doing anything on a table. Your feet can touch the ground normally, so it might work with a high table, but structurally, it’s not really suited for low tables.
When using this chair, the best thing to do is just lean back, let your body sink into it, and fully relax!

Handy Drink Holder

Since you’ll naturally end up a bit distant from any table, having a built-in drink holder is a really nice touch!
Rock gently, sip your coffee, and read a good book — pure bliss.

Adjustable Recline with Side Straps

You can tweak the reclining angle to suit your needs. Tilt it slightly when reading or go full recline for a lazy afternoon nap.
Since it uses belt straps, the adjustment is stepless, so you can fine-tune it to your perfect angle.

Plus-One for Extra Comfort!

Here’s a personal favorite tip: add a second chair to use as an ottoman!
Let’s be honest; kicking off your shoes makes relaxing even better. But, you still want to be able to rock!
Just place a regular, non-rocking outdoor chair at your feet, and voilà! You’ve just leveled up your chill time.

How Deep Will the Outdoor Gear Addiction Go?

This time, I introduced the first piece of outdoor gear I ever bought — the LOGOS Yura Yura Hammock Chair — but of course, it wasn't going to stop there... I mean, this is a rabbit hole, right? (lol)

At first, I was just thrilled thinking, “It’s here! I’m so happy! Let’s go swaying outside in the rocking chair with a cup of coffee!” So I rushed to the nearest convenience store, grabbed some coffee, and drove off to try it out. But then it hit me...
“This is amazing… but wouldn’t it be even better if I made a fresh cup of coffee right here on the spot?”
And just like that, a new thought crept in.
