It's been a little over a month since Fuji Rock 20204 ended. I’m feeling a little sad about it.
I had a really great time this year. I'm looking forward to next year's Fuji Rock and will do my best for the rest of the year. I stayed in tents again, and on my way home, the person in the tent next to me said, “Thank you very much for your hospitality. Let’s do this again next year!.” This really warmed my heart. It’s always nice to have conversations like these.
During the festival, I walked a total of 97,485 steps, or about 62 km, which was about 18,000 steps less than last year and about 20 km less than last year. It was much less than in previous years, so I wonder if the transportation was more efficient. (We participated in the festival for 4 nights and 5 days from the eve of the festival, staying in tents.)
The tents were also closer to the venue than in previous years, so that may have had something to do with it.

FUJIROCK EXPRESS '24 Official Report
My personal best act is The Killers! I was so elated to witness a world-class rock show. Other acts were girl in red, TURNSTILE, FLOATING POINTS, THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN, YIN YIN, SAMPHA, KING KRULE, US, 2manydjs, Kururi, Denki Groove, and so many other awesome acts. The list is endless, but really I enjoyed all the acts I saw. Also, the event Doburokku that was held on the eve of the festival was great! Looking forward to next year.
Well, this time, I brought sandals and trekking shoes from an outdoor brand, jogging shoes from a sports brand, and bird-watching boots. It didn't rain much, so I didn't have to use my boots, but I would like to describe what it was like wearing each of them.
Sandals from an outdoor brand
Specifically, they were the KEEN NEWPORT H2 sandals. (I have been using them for more than a decade.) I wore them barefoot from home to the venue and on the eve of the festival. Well, they are lightweight, easy to walk in, rather well cushioned, very comfortable, and I had no problems. My only concern is that my feet might be a little cold if it rains. I am not so sure about that. I saw many people wearing HOKA sandals (called “HOPARA”) in addition to KEEN sandals.
Jogging shoes from sports manufacturers
Specifically, they are asics GEL-KAYANO 31. (I bought them last year and wear them occasionally.) They are for running, so the cushioning is excellent, and I spent the first day in them and found them very comfortable, especially when walking on hard surfaces such as asphalt. However, the soft sole makes it easy to feel the bumps on gravel, which may tire your feet out a little...? They are breathable and do not get stuffy, but I think they would be a bit hard to wear in the rain. Also, the backs of my feet got really hot when exposed to sunlight. Why is that?
Trekking shoes
Specifically these Arc'teryx ACRUX TR shoes. I have worn them mainly at Fuji Rock, Asagiri JAM, etc. I plan to do some mountaineering, but haven't done it yet. Before that, I used to wear KEEN's TARGHEE. Both are high cut. I spent the second and third day in these, and I still think they are very stable. I felt that trekking shoes are the most comfortable shoes because they are easy to wear on any ground, even if the venue is well maintained. I would have no problem wearing these in the rain. I definitely recommend trekking shoes for Fuji Rock.
That's all for now!
