I Went to Fuji Rock!

Many of you are probably in the midst of relaxing now that the 2023 Fuji Rock is over. It was fun. A lot of fun….
I think I walked a total of 116,301 steps, or about 80 kilometers, during the festival, and I thought I would be healthier if I were at Fuji Rock every day.
(Participated for 4 nights and 5 days from the eve of the festival and stayed in a tent)

In my previous blog entry, I wrote a lot about which shoes to wear at Fuji Rock, but the venue I visited for the first time in four years was much better maintained than in the past with almost no bad roads. None of the roads were bumpy this time. As long as it didn't rain, I could go there in ordinary sneakers! I was so thankful for this!
However, if I am careless and only go with any old pair of sneakers, I may get caught in a downpour, so I plan to bring trekking shoes and boots next year, too. It's important to be prepared.

Also it was too sunny and too hot this year. It didn't rain at all, I didn’t need to take my boots out, and I only wore my poncho for a few minutes on Friday. When was the last time it didn't rain like this? Too long ago to remember.
So, here are some of the things that were useful as protection against the heat. Please use them as a reference for next year and beyond.

Towel that gets cold when wetted with water and shaken

I purchased this at a drugstore. Wrap it around your neck while it is cold. Even if it gets lukewarm, it will become cool if you shake it again.
It feels good to have this cool down the neck. This is great for preventing heat stroke.

Protect the back of the head and neck. This is also a preventative measure against heat stroke.

Sunglasses

Reduce glare & protect eyes from UV rays.

Vacuum-Sealed Water Bottles for Cold Liquids

Buy cold water, barley tea, etc., and transfer them to a bottle to keep them cold. This is another way to prevent heat stroke. (Don't drink beer all the time!).

Water bottles are also available! Vacuum insulated construction with copper plating for long-lasting heat and cold retention.

Hakka Oil Spray and Body Sheets

I think this worked best this time! Spraying a little bit of Hakka oil on the sheet and wiping your body feels sooooo good. You can forget about the heat for a while. Spraying it on a hat or towel is also recommended. However, be careful not to spray it directly onto your skin, as it will start to sting. Also, it has an insect repellent effect.

At the high altitude of Naeba, it was very comfortable from midnight to dawn when the temperature was around 20 degrees Celsius, but it was really hot during the day. Many people had handy fans and folding fans. It was crowded with people this year, and with many international visitors, it was almost like being back to before Corona happened.

Lastly...my personal best act was FKJ, but I ran into him in the hall and had my picture taken with him (I cried with happiness)!
