Hardcore Techno Day 2023 for Club Music Lovers! - Remix/Bootleg/VIP/Flip

It's August 5th, which means it has become a tradition here to celebrate Hardcore Techno Day! This time, I would like to change things up and talk about hardcore arrangements!

Let’s celebrate the return of THE DAY OF HARDCORE: ！！！！！！！！

This is not the case at all, but we will advertise it anyway!

Unlike previous years, this year's commemorative party, THE DAY OF HARDCORE 2023 will be held at Shinjuku EDEN. Admission is free, of course, and it's the coolest party in Japan that’s celebrated on August 5th.
Admission is limited, and as of the publishing of this article, the party has already reached its maximum capacity.

What are remixes, bootlegs, VIPs, and flips?

What do these names refer to in the first place? The answer is simple: they are all "arranged versions.
The names change depending on the content of the arrangement.

■ Remix

A remix is an arrangement in which the original composer has handed over the paradata or STEM (track group), and the arranger has reconstructed it.
Some pages often explain that an official arrangement is called a "remix," but not all arrangements are official.

■ Bootleg

Like remixes, not all arrangements are official.
However, in most cases, they are unofficial and on the edge of copyright infringement. However, in rare cases, the original composer may have approved the arrangement, so it does not mean that it is completely out of bounds.

■ VIP

VIP is an abbreviation for "Variation in Production" and refers to a remix of an original song by the composer himself. In a broad sense, "VIP" also includes "XX year version" and so on.

■ Flip

”Flip" is a very complicated term, but it refers to a "’re-re-mix’ of a remix”. Since the music is rearranged and rearranged again, the original elements of the music are often diluted.

Based on these factors, I will propagate my favorite arranged versions!

Remix

■ Hixxy & Re-Con - Superhuman (Technikore x JTS Remix)

This remix of the classic Superhuman by UK HARDCORE legends Hixxy and Re-Con is a remix by legendary composers, Technikore and JTS, and was quite a hit when it was first released.
The tempo has been speeded up compared to the original song, and this UK HARDCORE song has been greatly brushed up since the original release in 2014.

■ Darren Styles, Dougal & Gammer - Party Don't Stop (Technikore Remix)

Speaking of Technikore, I don't want to forget this remix. This is a cool remix of “Party Don't Stop”, an anthemic song that gets the party going.
The original song was composed by Darren Styles, Dougal and Gammer, who were featured in a previous HARDCORE TECHNO feature on TikTok. The song "Stay Young" is one of the best anthems I have ever heard from these three composers.

Flip

■ RIOT - Overkill (M-Project Flip)

Based on the metal-inspired original, this song has been edited to be more club friendly. As in the original song, it is very hard to get into the drop, but the openness of the song is great!
The 2-step part in the middle of the song will have you boppin’ your head while listening to it!
It's called "Flip" but I can't find the original remix. If you happen to know where to find it, please let me know…

■ All Time Low - Dear Maria, Count Me In (Awoltalk Remix) [E*Tank Hardcore Flip]

This is a Flip of the 2008 single "Dear Maria, Count Me In" by the American pop-punk band All Time Low.
The Soundcloud tag says UK Hardcore, but I felt the arrangement was influenced by Industrial Hardcore and Mainstream Hardcore.

VIP

■ Akira Complex - Odyssey (HARDCORE VIP)

I have many things to say about this composer (as well as those of you who probably know the situation), but here I would like to talk only about the music.
I still think the best HARDCORE TECHNO album in the doujin community is original songs rom the album HARDCORE UNITED TOKYO! The original track is a combination of Darkstep, Drumstep, Dubstep, Riddim, etc., and I am simply amazed at the skill with which the bass line is sublimated into HARDCORE TECHNO without losing much of its originality.

■ Darren Styles - Come Running 2022 (DS VIP)

Darren Styles, a legendary HARDCORE TECHNO composer whom I adore, has reincarnated his classic "Come Running". I have brushed up each delicate sound of the song while keeping the good quality of the original.
