In the showroom at the Sound House headquarters, you’ll find an impressive lineup of guitars from our in-house brand, PLAYTECH! Today, I’m introducing three classical and electric nylon-string guitars that I tried out as a staff member, sharing my impressions. These guitars are highly recommended for anyone looking to start playing guitar or switch from electric or acoustic guitars.
PLAYTECH / CG60 Classical Guitar
First up is the all-time classic, the PLAYTECH CG60 classical guitar! With mahogany used for the sides and back, this guitar produces a very soft and warm sound. When I played it, both the Al Aire and Apoyando techniques produced beautifully rounded tones with ease. I think this guitar is very beginner-friendly. Additionally, the side position markers at the 5th and 7th frets are nice for those just starting out! This model is also available as the CG60SET Classical Guitar Starter Set, so be sure to check that out too!
*Al Aire is a technique where the finger is lifted off the string after plucking it.
*Apoyando is a technique where the finger moves to the adjacent string after plucking.
PLAYTECH / CG50 Classical Guitar
Next, we have the PLAYTECH CG50, featuring a spruce top! This classical guitar offers a more resonant and vibrant sound. When I played it, each note stood out more clearly compared to the PLAYTECH CG60. The neck design is similar to that of an acoustic guitar, making it easier to play for those accustomed to acoustics. This model also has side position markers at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th frets, making it a user-friendly option for beginners!
PLAYTECH / EC800 Electric Nylon-String Guitar
Lastly, I introduce the PLAYTECH EC800 electric nylon-string guitar, perfect for concert performances! An electric nylon-string guitar refers to a classical guitar equipped with a pickup. This model features a B-band preamp system, offering a wide range of sound. When I played it, the thin solid body and balanced weight made it feel very similar to an electric guitar, so those used to electrics will find it comfortable to play. The sound quality is close to that of the PLAYTECH CG50, with notes that stand out clearly. This guitar is ideal for band performances or practicing at home with headphones.
That concludes my introduction to three classical and electric nylon-string guitars available in the Sound House showroom! What did you think?
Each of these guitars is easy to play, even for those who are not familiar with classical guitars. Take this opportunity to check out our website!
