I would like to introduce the flat mandolin cases made by SKB
SKB is an American case manufacturer that produces cases for musical instruments, PA equipment, and rack mount products. SKB cases are also used in military, industrial, and medical fields, and the quality and high level technology have passed strict military security standards. There are many people who wonder, "There are similar mandolin cases that are cheaper. What is the difference?" I would like to talk about the appeal of SKB mandolin cases.
There are two types of mandolin cases.
* Both are "cases for flat mandolin". Please note that they cannot be used with the classic mandolin (the rounded back mandolin).
80A hard case for A style mandolin
This is a case for "A style flat mandolins", which have a round body.
80F hard case for F style mandolin
This is a case for "F style flat mandolins" that have decorations such as a horn, and so on.
Feature 1: Durable material!
One of the main features of SKB cases is that the exterior is made of ABS resin. ABS resin is a plastic material that is often used in the body of cases and home appliances. Despite being lightweight, it has excellent impact resistance. Hard Styrofoam is used inside the case. Like ABS resin, this is also a material that is both strong against impacts and is also light weight. As the case has an irregularities finish (like a fine camouflage pattern), small scratches are unnoticeable. Also, the handle is thick and easy to grasp.

Feature 2: It provides strong protection for the instrument!
The interior is made of soft carpet-like fabric. When you actually put the mandolin into the case, the mandolin is supported tightly it even if the case is rocked!

↓Body of the 80F (for F-style flat mandolin)
It is hollowed out for the shape of the instrument.

The bottom and cover are not flat, but are shaped according to the shape of the instrument, such as the front and back arches and the fingerboard.

Both cases provide solid support for the neck. In addition, the head section fits the width of the head of the mandolin, so it did not move loosely inside the case.

Feature 3: It has a TSA lock!
The TSA lock is a lock approved by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). When they need to inspect your checked baggage at an airport in the United States, your lock may be destroyed if it is locked. It's surprising they would break the lock without permission, but the Transportation Security Administration has this right. However, if the luggage has a TSA lock, the Transportation Security Agency has a duplicate key so that the contents can be inspected without breaking the lock. Therefore, cases with a TSA lock are recommended when using an airport in the United States.

The case has a latch that opens and closes. Of course, you don’t need to lock it for daily use.

Feature 4: Storage space for Accessories!
There is a space for small items under the neck support, and it is just large enough to hold picks. You may be able to store a small tuner as well.

In short, the good points of the SKB's mandolin cases are that they are "Robust" and they come with "TSA locks"! This case is especially recommended for those who need to carry their mandolin over long distances or especially to the United States.
In addition to SKB, we also carry other brands of mandolin cases. Please click here for more details.
