Continued - How to install Speedster bearings - Installation on the new Speed Cobra

This is Hatta.
As a supplement to the previous content, I would like to introduce some important facts I discovered.

(Caution) Speedster bearings are not compatible with the new Speed Cobra and new Iron Cobra.

The other day, when I installed a Speedster bearing on the new Speed Cobra twin pedals, I discovered a problem -- the connecting rod that connects the left and right pedals came into contact with the Speedster bearing and could not be connected.

The cause is the miniaturization of parts (speed ring)

The Speedster bearing was originally released for the old Iron Cobra and the old Speed Cobra before the model change.

And with this major model change, the part called the speed ring on the Cobra was downsized.
At first glance, it looks the same, but in fact, the dimensions below the center hole through which the shaft assembly passes is 1 mm shorter.
As a result, contact with the connecting lot occurs (tears).

The manufacturer didn't even know that it wasn't possible to install it on the new Cobra series, as there wasn't much difference in appearance. Please be assured that I have confirmed that it can be installed without any problems on the latest single pedal and the old Cobra series (single, twin).

It is said that the manufacturer is currently considering new measures, but at present, it is necessary to downsize the Speedster bearing to prevent contact with the connecting rod, and it seems that it will take a considerable amount of time to commercialize it.
Then, is there no choice but to give up on the installation of Speedster bearings on the new model?

No, that's not the case.

From here, I will introduce the solution that I actually worked out.

Change to old parts

By replacing the new Cobra speed ring (HP9N6) with the old Cobra speed ring (HP9S), you can install the Speedster bearing as before! (Duh ♪)
As you can see, it's perfect!

The new Speed Cobra boasts overwhelming comfort even without Speed Star bearings, but people are still greedy creatures... lol
