Delay is incredible

There are lots of effects pedals in the world, but I’d like to talk about gear deeply based on my biased opinion.

For the unforgettable (?) Vol.1, I’d like to focus on delay effects.
Delay effectors repeat the delayed original sound, and have an effect like an echo.
I’d like to ask you first, who pops up in your mind for “the performance that makes full use of the delay effects”?

U2 guitarist, The Edge comes to my mind first!
I feel a romance in his playing with the dotted eighth delay!
However, this time, I’d like to feature musicians who use delay in different ways in their performance.

AIMING FOR ENRIKE

So much uniqueness from the first one!
A Math Rock duo consisting of guitar and drums from Norway! It’s called “Aiming for Enrike.”
The guitarist Simen Følstad Nilsen uses a LINE6 / DL4 and BOSS / DD-6.
Their tunes built up with the layers of chords and phrases by using the delay and riff loops with a looper -- they are so fascinating.

This is the successor model of LINE6 / DL4, which the guitarist of Aiming for Enrike use.

The DL4 allows you to play at 1/2 speed and in reverse, and you can find some different aspects to some familiar phrases.

The next one is this.

Enemies

A 4 piece Math Rock band from Ireland. The sparkling sounds in the intro of the song are beautiful, aren’t they?

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find out what gear they use, but I bet you can get a similar sound with the SUPER DELAY of Empress Effects / ECHOSYSTEM using the reverse delay pitch mode played 1 octave higher!

*I’m an Empress user, too. It wasn’t an ECHOSYSTEM, but I’ve already tested it.
Like the song I introduced, you can expect good vibes just by adding it to your arsenal as an extra!

The Horrors

An English 5 piece band. I, the writer, found myself heading out to buy the CD after hearing one of their songs for the first time.
I’m sure you’ll love it if you like shoegazing and electronic music.

The delay pedal the guitarist Joshua Hayward uses is the BOSS / DD-7.

BOSS / DD-8 Digital delay

The DD-7 (the above image is the successor model, DD-8) has a TEMPO/EXP jack. Connecting a BOSS / FS-5U foot controller to it allows for stress-free Tap Tempo, and connecting an expression pedal from the FV-500 series or EV-5 allows for linear control of the delay time and feedback at your feet. The DD-7 is a flexible pedal that hidden in a compact size!
