Recommended Wireless Microphone Case: An In-Depth Review of the Shure by Gator SH-MICCASEW07

We receive inquiries every day from customers looking for storage and transport cases for various types of gears, and recently we’ve noticed a growing number of questions about wireless microphone cases. Many people are searching for a suitable carrying case but are unsure about the actual size and capacity. So this time, I’m taking a closer look at the wireless microphone case from Gator, for which we serve as a distributor in Japan.

First, let’s take a look at the exterior. The case features a rugged resin construction with the Shure logo printed on the front. Even before opening it, the sturdy feel of the exterior immediately stands out. Let’s open the latch locks and see what’s inside.

When opening the lid, you’ll find divider panels stored inside the upper tray, along with a desiccant pack and keys for the latch locks. One thing worth noting is that the lid does not open beyond 90 degrees.

There are four divider panels included in total. The bottom and side edges use hook-and-loop fasteners, allowing the dividers to attach securely to the internal tray and letting you freely customize the storage layout to match your equipment. At this point, some of you may be wondering: “Where exactly is the space for the wireless microphones?” Well, actually...

There’s a dedicated microphone storage foam section underneath the trays. And as you may have already noticed, the case includes two trays. In other words, the internal structure is arranged as tray → tray → microphone foam from top to bottom.

Let’s begin by checking the dimensions of the trays (internal measurements): width: approx. 395 mm, depth: approx. 265 mm, and height: approx. 49 mm. These dimensions should easily accommodate single-channel receivers, as well as wider dual-channel receivers such as the SLXD4 or BLX88.

Now for the main feature: the wireless microphone compartment. The case provides storage slots for up to seven microphones. The foam insert is permanently fixed in place and cannot be removed.

The slot measures approximately 35 mm in width, 210 mm in length (up to the base of the grille section), and about 50 mm in diameter around the grille area. Since the foam insert cannot be removed, the depth measurement is only approximate, but it is roughly 65 mm deep. Based on these dimensions alone, some wireless microphones may appear slightly too long to fit. However, the foam material is flexible and stretchable, so even microphones that are somewhat larger should still fit, as long as the size difference is within roughly 1-2 cm in width, height, or length.

Finally, let’s briefly look at some of the case hardware. The case features TSA-compatible latch locks and includes keys. It’s difficult to describe exactly, but the locking mechanism has a very satisfying ‘click’ feel when closing.

On the back, the hinges are firmly secured, and the lid is designed to remain permanently attached rather than removable.
