As musicians, practice is essential. For drummers, in particular, many of you may struggle with finding a place or the right tools to practice. It’s an eternal problem that I’m sure many have faced.
I myself often worry about how to practice drums, so I decided to consider electronic drums, which might just be the solution to this problem. I’ll introduce some recommended products by brand, focusing on electronic drums that are particularly accessible for modern drummers. I hope this will be helpful!

PLAYTECH
First, let’s talk about our company’s original brand, PLAYTECH, which any drummer reading this blog will likely be familiar with.
PLAYTECH offers a wide range of electronic drum kits, from the PDS-150II to the PDS-1000, all at highly affordable prices. These sets are used by drummers with varying levels of experience.

The most noteworthy product is the PDS-1000, designed to replicate the appearance of acoustic drums.
Not only does it feature a wooden shell structure, but it also has a hi-hat pad that mimics the real open/close motion of a top cymbal, and mesh heads for the snare, toms, and bass drum that allow tension adjustment. This creates a playing experience similar to that of acoustic drums.
And given its shocking price, I’m sure I’m not the only one who sees it as a top contender!
ATV
ATV’s philosophy is that “instruments have the power to move people emotionally, and they are not just about functions and specs.” The sound module they’ve developed produces immersive, emotional tones that any drummer who cares deeply about sound will appreciate.

The recommended set here is the EXS-3CY, which includes the high-resolution sound module xD3-SV. The xD3 module features carefully selected, realistic drum sounds and high-quality backing tracks made by professional musicians, which even seasoned drummers will enjoy.
It’s also designed to offer a playing experience close to acoustic drums, making it an ideal choice for realistic drum practice.
Pearl
Next is Pearl, an acoustic drum manufacturer that collaborated with electronic instrument maker KORG to develop their electronic drum line, e/MERGE. This lineup is known for its uncompromising quality in terms of feel and size!
Pearl offers a luxurious range of electronic drums. Pearl’s expertise with acoustic drums is evident in the realism of the sounds, fast response times, and wide dynamic range.

Out of the e/MERGE Series that provides you the realistic performance feel, the EM-53HB is my personal recommendation. The combination of the shell-structured bass drum and drum rack looks incredibly cool! If I had to choose an electronic drum kit for stage performance, this would be it!
YAMAHA
Yamaha, a world-renowned musical instrument brand, is known for their long-running DTX Drums Series. With their commitment to capturing the finest instrument conditions and working with trusted drummers, Yamaha’s sampled sounds are of the highest quality. This is a brand I would recommend to those who prioritize sound quality.

The DTX6K3-XUPS is one of the popular models in the DTX6 Series, designed under the concept of “compact models that offer the best playing experience.” It features Yamaha’s original TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) heads on the snare and all toms, which provide optimal feel and high levels of noise reduction, perfect for practice. One of the best features is its compatibility with the iOS/Android app Rec’n’Share, which allows you to add a click track, change tempo, and loop sections of songs you’ve loaded into the app. Plus, the smart design of the rack makes it easy to store when not in use.
Roland
Finally, let’s talk about Roland, famous for their V-Drums. With industry-leading quality, it’s no exaggeration to say they are number one. Their V-Drums Series is well-loved by a wide range of artists, and you’ve probably seen them featured in plenty of “#drumcover” videos.
When it comes to electronic drums, many drummers automatically think of Roland’s V-Drums, and no matter the price range, they offer high-quality models.

Among their lineup, the VAD (V-Drums Acoustic Design) Series stands out. With a design resembling high-end acoustic drums, expressive sound, and exceptional playability, this series sets the bar that other brands can’t reach. By recording your performances or using the built-in coaching modes, the VAD Series can help you improve your drum skills even more than using acoustic drums. It’s truly the ultimate drum kit.
How was it? I’ve introduced some recommended electronic drum kits by brand.
Since I’ve been playing drums for a while now, the ones I found to be good might be a bit on the pricier side... haha.
But electronic drums are large instruments that you won’t replace often, and buying extra accessories is usually out of the question.
So, if you’re struggling with your practice setup, it might be worth considering it as an initial investment and going for something that will fully satisfy you!
I hope this guide was helpful.
