Wireless microphones for smartphones are becoming a staple for video shooting on mobile devices.
They are compact, lightweight, easy to use, and gradually gaining popularity.
Today, I would like to introduce a product from the range of wireless microphones for smartphones that I believe deserves more recognition!
BOYA / BY-W4 4CH Wireless Microphone for Smartphones
First, let me highlight the key features of this product.
1. Use Four Transmitters Simultaneously!
As mentioned at the beginning, this product allows pairing four transmitters to one receiver. This means you can send audio from four different transmitters to a single receiver.
Until now, wireless microphones for smartphones typically supported only up to two transmitters per receiver. Often, two microphones weren’t enough for certain shooting scenarios, and we received many inquiries about this.
Before the release of this product, it was quite sad for me as well, but now we finally have a product that meets this need!
This product is extremely convenient when you need to input audio from more than two people into the same device.
2. Comes with Y-Cable for Monitoring!
By connecting the included Y-cable to the receiver, you can monitor audio in real-time. Although the receiver has only one output terminal, the Y-cable splits the output into two.
The Y-cable clearly indicates where to connect each end, making it easy to use.
Ensure you connect the headphones correctly, as reversing them will result in no audio heard.
Note that this terminal is strictly for monitoring audio captured by the transmitters and does not allow listening to audio from the smartphone.
Being able to monitor audio while shooting is a significant advantage!
Now, let me show you how to use this product.
The operation is very simple, making it easy to use even for those who are not comfortable with technology!
First, press and hold the power button on the side for about five seconds until the LED light starts flashing.
Once you turn on all four transmitters and the receiver, the lights will switch from flashing to solid.
Pairing is now complete!
The devices pair automatically when powered on, with no complicated setup required !(^^)!
① Connecting to a Camera
Use the included TRRS-TRS cable, connecting the TRS end labeled ‘CAMERA’ to the camera and the TRRS end labeled ‘MICROPHONE’ to the receiver.
② Connecting to a Smartphone
Use the included TRRS-TRRS cable, then convert it to the appropriate connector for your smartphone using an adapter.
Some smartphones with headphone jacks may work directly without the need for additional adapters.
I recommend the following adapters for connection:
BOYA / BY-K1 3.5mm TRS to Lightning Adapter
BOYA / BY-K2 3.5mm TRS to USB Type-C Adapter
Choose the adapter that matches your smartphone’s port. Using these adapters allows direct connection to the smartphone without additional cables.
I prefer using a single adapter to minimize connections!
*Note
Similar cables from other manufacturers may work, but the above two are guaranteed to work. If you’re unsure, I recommend purchasing them together with the microphone.
This completes the setup.
Attach the transmitter to your chest, and you’re ready to start recording.
Here’s a video demonstrating the recording.

We receive positive feedback that their performance is clumsy and cute lol.
Even with four people speaking simultaneously, the audio is captured clearly.
I myself tested it out many times, but there were no interruptions and the connection was stable. The sensitivity is impressive, capturing clear audio even at some distance from the mouth.
If this product interests you, give it a try !(^^)!
Lastly, I’m showing some frequently asked questions.
Q. The LED flashes green instead of blue.
A. Turn off the power and then press and hold the power button longer than usual when turning it back on.
The LED colors refer to:
Green... The mode with two transmitters
Blue... The mode with four transmitters
Q. Only one transmitter is flashing, and it won’t pair.
A. Double-click the power buttons on all transmitters and the receiver. Once they all switch to flashing mode, wait a while until they all turn solid blue and pair.
Q. The microphone is not detected by the smartphone.
A. Older versions of iOS may not recognize the microphone. Additionally, try running the official BOYA Audio app in the background, as it sometimes helps with detection.
