Hello everyone! I’m Makino from the Wind Instrument Team. For someone like me who was in the brass band throughout my school years, summer is synonymous with memories of competitions. I fondly remember tuning my instrument while constantly checking my tuner. Today, I’d like to introduce some recommended tuners for wind instruments!
①PLAYTECH / PTM-50BK Tuner Metronome with Microphone
Since last year, we’ve been selling the PLAYTECH tuner metronome! The standout feature is its price! Many of you might have experienced dropping your tuner from a music stand and breaking it. With this price, it’s easy on your wallet to replace. Plus, it comes with a clip-on microphone, which is very useful when tuning in a large group setting.
It also has a metronome function, making it convenient for solo practice.
The tempo ranges from 30bpm to 260bpm, and you can set beats and rhythms, making it versatile for both basic exercises and full pieces.
②Yamaha / TDM-710
The new TDM-710 Series has arrived as an upgrade to the classic TDM-700 Series tuner metronomes! It includes new features like Track mode and Focus mode.
Track Mode
Displays pitch fluctuations after playing. This allows you to practice for stable pitch without constantly looking at the screen during performance.。

Focus Mode
ピChanges the pitch display range from ±50 cents to ±25 cents. The finer scale allows for more detailed checks.

Additionally, you can display both the tuner and metronome simultaneously, enabling practice with the metronome while confirming the correct pitch.
The screen is now easier to read, and the sound and sound-back functions have been improved for even better usability!
③ Korg / TM-70F
Korg has also released the new TM-70 Series, an upgrade to the popular TM-60 Series! It retains the previous features and adds two new functions: Focus mode and Trace mode.
Focus Mode and Trace Mode for More Precision
Allows the usual ±50 cents display to be changed to a focused ±25 cents display. This is especially useful for fine-tuning intervals like major and minor thirds.
Trace mode displays the pitch range detected over the past 2 seconds on the lower part of the meter, which is helpful for checking long tones.

This model also allows simultaneous display of the tuner and metronome, making it easy to practice with the metronome while verifying correct pitch.
The metronome and sound output quality have also been enhanced for greater usability!
④Seiko / STH200
Seiko offers this model in four colors, with the blue and pink options being particularly cute! Weighing only 96g, it’s incredibly lightweight! Thanks to its unique slit mechanism, you can insert it onto a music stand, making it super convenient.
