New Product! I Tried the BOSS KATANA:GO!

The new KATANA:GO was launched by BOSS on March 23, 2024.

This pocket-sized headphone amp has the sound of the existing KATANA series intact, and it’s attracting a lot of attention. I decided to try out KATANA:GO at home!

The size is 45cm × 125cm, which is smaller than a standard smartphone. It also weighs a light 70g. The iPhone 13 I have weighs about 200g, so it is not burdensome at all to put it in the pocket of my guitar case.

The sound is the same as the KATANA series that we all love up to now, and is indeed a BOSS sound. The original presets are assigned to the A, B, and C buttons, each with 10 different types, so you can enjoy a total of 30 different tones right from the moment you buy it.

CLEAN CHORUS assigned to Preset 1-C is my favourite tone and I can play it all day long. It is a tone that can be used as is without any major editing.

Bass mode is also supported and can be easily switched on and off. Not only the guitarists, but also the bassists will be satisfied with the 30 presets that are available from the start. I also play bass from time to time, so I tried it on bass and loved the wide-range of the MODERN sound, which is perfect for slapping.

As the unit only has the bare minimum of buttons, you can't adjust anything other than the volume on the unit, but you can edit the tones by using the dedicated app. You can also save your tones and publish them on the internet or download tones created by other writers.

Jazz tones are rarely found in the library, but there are already some registered and here I am enjoying jazz tones right away.

The usual great sound is the same as before, but it also has a feature of being a headphone amp that is equipped with the STAGE FEEL function developed by BOSS's own three-dimensional acoustic technology. This gives a three-dimensional, fresh sound, as if you are actually listening to the amplifier placed in front of you. The localisation of the audio played back via Bluetooth can also be changed, giving you an immersive experience, as if you are playing along with the band members in the studio.

Of course, simultaneous playback of sound sources from smartphones is now becoming commonplace. However, KATANA:GO not only allows you to create a setlist of your favourite sound sources on the app, but also allows you to register videos on YouTube!
It's so nice to be able to practise while watching videos with sheet music and so on.

The KATANA Go is also extremely useful by connecting to your smartphone via USB. You can simultaneously import the sounds of KATANA:GO into your smartphone's video recordings. This is an extremely useful feature for internet guitarists. You can record the karaoke sound and your guitar performance at the same time and then instantly share them on your favorite social media sites. This is a truly revolutionary specification.
