I Went to the 5th Anniversary Event of Vintage Clothing Store Los Mavericks in Chiba! - JBL PA Speaker PRX900 Series -

Theme:Events & Concerts, PA

On April 16, I visited the super stylish vintage clothing store Los Mavericks in Shibayama, Chiba for their 5th anniversary event!

I didn’t know such a wonderful place was just a bit of a trip from my house in Sakae, Inba District (next to Narita). The area around the shop is filled with greenery, and you can see planes taking off and landing up close, something you don’t see every day.
The American-style storefront that suddenly appears along the main road is easy to spot with a Harley-Davidson displayed in the show window.

If you ever come around the Narita area, definitely visit this shop. Inside, you’ll find a selection of cool American vintage clothes and original apparel curated by the owner, Kakuji-san, who is a year older than me. There’s also a skateboard bank welcoming you (covered this time for the event).

The original t-shirts sold at this event were all hand-spray painted, each one unique. The fact that no two are the same is incredibly thrilling. I lined up to buy one, setting aside preparations (sorry, Kurosu-kun).

The cap logo design was created by Sugano-san, known from Narita no Okage. The sharp font inside a biscuit-shaped frame looks cool!

The lighters designed by Hono-kun from REHUB’s 3QC (3 QUESTION CLUB) also caught my eye. The psychedelic fonts made them irresistible, so I bought one, of course.

Now, let’s talk about the audio!

Through my involvement in Narita’s music event Narita no Okage, I got to know the owner, Kakuji-san. For years, I had told him, “Call me when you do an event! I’ll bring the speakers!” Finally, that wish came true!

For this event, I brought JBL’s latest powered speakers, the PRX900 Series. The PRX912 12-inch speaker served as the main speaker, the EON710 as the floor monitor, and the PRX908 for the drums. The SPS MINI mini speaker stands were a perfect fit in terms of height and installation space for the drum speakers!

Using the dedicated wireless control app, JBL Pro Connect, I paired all four units and adjusted the volume and EQ while walking around the venue. This app’s ability to control speakers in different series together is a standout feature.

During the rehearsal, we balanced the volume carefully considering the glass windows that covered the entire space and caused reflections.

“During the event, the sound absorption and reflection will change when people are present, so I made settings considering this,” said our PA specialist Kurosu-san. Always learning something new from him!

The JBL PRX900 Series, with its powerful 2000W power amplifier, delivers a rich and dense low-end, detailed mids, and crisp highs, making for an exceptional sound experience. It truly lives up to its reputation.

The three-piece band Pablo sounded fantastic right from the rehearsal!
Their consistent stability and reliability are always at their peak! The vocals and guitar from Moku-san, the steady bass from Nasu-ken, and the rhythmic drumming from Furuya-san all resonated perfectly.

Today’s PA had a surprise setup by Kurosu-kun.
How many noticed the two pairs of main speakers?
Stay tuned for more details in another blog post written by Kurosu-kun.

DJ time kicked off with Hono-kun from REHUB.
His song selection was perfect for a Sunday, and his humble and polite demeanor makes him a highly respected young man! Check out his apparel brand, TQC, for some cool clothes and goods!

Next was RYUCHANG, who played catchy tunes that were perfect for young people and made everyone naturally sway. A great DJ who I hope to meet again. I, an older man, will muster the courage to talk to him next time!

DJ NOCK, known for knowing everyone, played lively Latin tunes and enjoyed music and drinks with everyone. He probably was the one who was enjoying the event the most lol. We haven’t known each other for long, but he always makes time for a chat and has been incredibly kind since we met!

The outdoor parking space was filled with food trucks offering delicious food.

T's BBQ

The brisket sandwich, aptly named ‘The Miracle of Tomisato’, was unbelievably delicious.
The juicy meat and complementary vegetables with a crispy bun were unparalleled.

PELOs ICE CREAM

I chose chocolate mint from their variety of ice creams. Eating it with cookies made it even better. The ice cream tasted fantastic in the open-air setting, and the staff’s smiles were heartwarming!

SUNNY KITCHEN

I wanted to try their beef curry, but my 40-year-old stomach couldn’t handle more. The photo is from Kurosu-kun.

LITTLE ITALY

A bar on the Sando in Narita. I couldn’t drink the beer because I had to drive, but it’s definitely something to try next time. Visit them when you’re in Narita!

After enjoying the DJs and delicious food, it was time for the much-anticipated in-store live performance!

2LOW

He arrived two minutes before the start because he was looking forward to this event too much and overslept lol.
He grabbed the mic as soon as he arrived and performed!
He shared the story of how he met Kakuji-san, then started singing. Starting with an upbeat tune to enjoy the limited time fully, raising hands to signify the 5th anniversary, everyone swayed to the music freely.
“Kakuji-san is like a car navigation system,” which was hilarious.
“Life is all about how you walk it.”

VICE

Seeing him for the first time, I felt I was having goosebumps from the first word of the lyrics and started filming it. His voice and performance pulled me in immediately, with each word resonating powerfully. His commanding stage performance was remarkable. Occasionally, you come across musicians with this kind of aura. It’s hard to describe, but it’s like the Conqueror’s Haki from One Piece!

Pablo

They said, “Musicians need a reason to make sound!”
“Having friends who can say yes without hesitation and everyone around who supports it is invaluable.”

I feel the same way when helping with events. When I ask someone for help and he/she can say “Sure, let’s do it!” without even checking the details. I’m grateful for those who share this sentiment being around me.

Pablo is three cool people I deeply respect!

The weather, which I had been worried about, miraculously held up, making it hot enough for just a t-shirt. Perhaps everyone’s good behavior paid off!

So many people who admire Kakuji-san gathered, creating a peaceful atmosphere.

It was an incredible sight to be surrounded by so many motorcycles, a scene unlikely to be seen so often lol. Pictures below show only a part of the crowd, with about four times as many bikes lined up impressively.

Seeing people of all ages, children and adults alike, smiling and enjoying the same moment was heartwarming.

Despite different roots, our feelings seemed united. I hope more places like this one will emerge.

Kakuji-san shared something along these lines:
“It’s important to reach many people through social media, but we locals should come together, raise our voices, and involve the younger generation to make it lively! I believe those gathered here can do it, so let’s keep it up! Let’s do this!”

It’s fulfilling to provide ‘sound’ for places that naturally draw people in. I’m not a great person, but I’m fortunate to be involved in this work and in charge of speakers in the company thanks to the people who invite and support me.

I’m happy to help and look forward to loading up the gear in my Subaru Sambar Classic and heading out for the next event!
