Musicians Who Use NOVATION

There are many different styles of DJing. You might be familiar with the standard turntable or CDJ + mixer setup, but there are also setups in which DJs and producers enhance their setups with ABLETON LIVE and MIDI controllers. Some DJs and producers add a lot of analog synths and use ‘machine live’ during their live concerts!! NOVATION MIDI equipment and synthesizers are often used in live performances, and in fact, some of my favorite musicians use them! In this article, I’d like to introduce you to some music and show you some NOVATION equipment. I also included some of my favorite tunes that I had a blast playing on vinyl when I DJed, so please take some time to listen!

■ KiNK

Bulgarian DJ KiNK uses a unique mix of old-school house, techno, and experimental elements that has earned him recognition from the world’s top DJs. KiNK’s live performances have featured Kink using drum machines as percussion instruments and he also improvised melodies on the keyboard. KinNK’s performances have transcended the capabilities of electronic music as a category and his music has become highly acclaimed worldwide.

KiNK talks about the Launchpad Mini and LaunchControl XL MK2 himself, and they seem to be the main components of his setup. NOVATION products are highly compatible with ABLETON LIVE, which sounds like an attractive setup, doesn’t it?

LEGOWELT is a music producing genius from the Netherlands. He is an experienced creator of dope old school house and acid techno tracks with analog equipment and has a big following. He is a fan of analog synthesizers and uses them in many of his performances. His unique use of analog equipment makes his sound experimental and intricate, which is a departure from other current electronic musicians.

This acid trance track is from 2020. It made me feel like I went to space for the first time in a while. Of course, I’ve never actually been to space. Lol. It’s the kind of music that can only be created by using hardware synths.

Here is another performance from the Boiler Room. There are no turntables or DJ mixers in this set, but hard synths and a mixer are the main setup. In this video, it seems the ABLETON LIVE and Launchpad have switched to playing the role of sequencers.
