My snare drum recommendation

There are many drummers that I love, and Chad Smith is among the top five.
I like Chad Smith so much that I chose to name my cat Chad.(Lol)

As you may know, Chad Smith is the drummer for Red Hot Chili Peppers. In 2007, he came to Japan for the Pearl Drum Clinic. You can see his popularity from DVD below.

His powerful, groovy drumming is super cool!! The dynamics and his use of ghost notes, which build up the song, and are exquisite. Personally, I like Chad's slip beat. Anyway, he’s a great drummer. In addition, because of his great personality, he gets a lot of calls from other musicians to do sessions.
Due to his popularity, Pearl released his signature model snare (production has already ceased). It’s called the CS1450!

Personally, I prefer the SR-17A, which has a structure that locks the lever simply and the adjustment knob is hard to loosen. Special resin parts are used for the fulcrum of the lever to achieve smooth lever movement.
The part that holds the snappy tape is place is moderately inclined. The main reason is "To reduce the burden on the snare wires and taps".
In addition, I think another effect is that it increases the degree of closeness of the strainer to the head, and it makes switching the strainer on or off smoother.

But if the sound is not the same, there is nothing I can say to persuade you ...

So, I compared the sound ♪

First, the CS1450. I personally like high tension tuning. With high tension tuning, if the tuning is wrong or too tight, the sound will sound stiffled and thin, and it will not carry at all. But in the case of this snare, the thick sound will not be thin and will carry even at high pitches. The sound is not too hard, and can even be said to be a little soft at times.
The overtones that are common in steel shell snares are suppressed because of the black nickel plating. They are very easy to control, and tuning is smooth and easy to carry out, so I think this is a product that can be used from beginners to advanced drummers.
Next is the US1450.
Use a torque key and apply the same tension.
Now, what kind of sound do you hear?

I'm tuning it and trying to get closer to Chad’s sound. This is a big part of the fun!!
One of the most common reasons for choosing a particular snare in the first place is because your favorite drummer uses it. It’s more exciting just because you’re using the same model that your favorite drummer uses.
The other reason is that because you listen your favorite drummer’s sound so much, it makes it easier for your ears to recognize that sound as you try to reproduce it.

With the money you save, you can change the batter side head to the CS coated model, and then your snare will have the same specs as Chad’s.
