[Fulltone / Full Drive] Classic initial silver casing version

Today, we would like to introduce the FULLTONE / Fulldrive.

First of all, I made a video, so please watch it.

This time, I introduced a silver box type Full Drive from the early days of Full Tone.

There is no jack to connect an AC adapter, so it only runs on batteries. The controls are limited to level, tone, and drive, and there is a boost switch that does not allow you to adjust the amount of distortion.

The Full Drive will be released later as the Full Drive 2, and there will be two drive knobs.
In general, the Full Drive 2, which will be released later, is more popular.

There are too many versions of the Full Drive, so I think it's quite difficult to decide which individual sound is the sound of the Full Drive.
To put it bluntly, the one with a flat mid and a comp-cut knob in a blue casing may be the standard.

The difference in the sound emitted between the early and late ones is also quite large.
Which one is best will depend on your preference, but the early ones produce a thicker and more powerful sound.

○ Recent units

・As the Full Drive becomes more recent, the sound becomes thinner or feels farther away.
・Compared to the initial one, the variable tone is wider and easier to use.
・Easy to match not only vintage amplifiers but also modern amplifiers and digital environments.

○ Initial unit

・The sound is thick.
・The center of gravity is low, and when used with boost, it makes a lot of noise.
・Since it has a sweet tone setting, it is best to connect it to a vintage amp.

○ Author's general comment

The early ones are great for boosting old-type amps.
Since the original sound is mild, it feels like it will suppress unnecessary glare and finish it with just the right amount of flavor.
The low center of gravity is also attractive.

On the other hand, the relatively recent ones have a wider range of tones, so I think they can be used in combination with a greater variety of amps and guitars.
Since there are comp cuts and various other knobs, the sound creation possibilities are also wider.

If the center of gravity of the sound is low, the sound output will be different.
It's packed in such a way that you won't want to unnecessarily adjust or boost your equalizing.

The Full Drive was developed based on the TS-808 Tube Screamer, but I think Mike Fuller would say this is an evolution of the Tube Screamer rather than a copy.

I don't think the initial Full Tone is the type of effector that everyone will be appreciated by everyone, but there are some unique sounds that can only be obtained with this.
