Today's theme is… patch cables!
Oh, next to the shield in importance is the patch cable. Connects between effectors.
Yup! Are you particular about any patch cables, Horry?
If you start picking favorites, there’s no end... If it's too cheap, you'll still lose sound, and you're generally worried about having troubles. Do you feel that the most common equipment trouble is patch cable-related?
Maybe.
Considering that, you should probably do something about it... But it's annoying because it is a consumable item like the shield. There are some that are surprisingly expensive considering how short they are.
There are!
So, in the end, you want to keep the pedals at your feet as neat as possible. I also have a longing for mine to appear like those in magazines (laughs).
A board construction system is needed. Some people have meticulously stuffed theirs like a fortress. I admire them.
For a while, I bought a patch cable to fit each time I added something at my feet. Thanks to that? I have a huge stock of patch cables (bitter smile) Beyond that, there are solderless cables, right?
Yeah, you can decide the appropriate length.
For a while, I made everything exactingly with solderless patch cables. However, since I keep rearranging the pedals, it becomes troublesome to remake the patch cable each time... I make them myself, so I am a little worried about the durability if I change the pedals frequently. So, I use a combination now. The ones that are fixed in place use solderless, and the ones that are frequently removed or changed use a commercially available patch cable. By the way, I wonder if I'll change it to Oyaide someday. I think maybe. But for now…

Oyaide is trustworthy, isn't it?
What about you, Kizuhiko?
I started using cheap patch cables, and now I love the flat ones from EBS.
Yeah. Well, the sound is good for the price, isn't it?
Yup. And because they’re flat, you can close the distance between effectors and the whole board looks neater. Especially because I have only BOSS compact units at my feet. They fit nicely with the EBS patch cables. They’re wonderful because the plug section is also thin.

In terms of the distance between effectors, there are some that have plugs stuck together. (Audio technica's ATL430CM) They’re also convenient, but you can't connect them well unless you're using them all from the same manufacturer, and you need to worry about how to apply the load. I hope it's in a loop.

Yes, yes. Then there was a time when I was particular about color.
Color? You said it when we talked about shields, too.
Yeah, the signal flow is like blood. I used to unify my shields and patch cables in red. Even my effectors.

It is thoroughly rosy….
Ha ha ha. Each patch cable is short, but since I use many on the board, it's an important factor that stacks up and affects the sound. I'll do this again in the future...! Yes, and everything?
Is for love!
