Learn from Char, the secret point when sitting and playing the guitar [Guitar Hero Posture Analysis]

Theme:sound&person

Hello!
My name is Takuto Fujioka, a guitarist who can see your posture!

At this time, playing live and in public have diminished. However, regardless of the way they are doing it, I am personally very encouraged to see that more and more people are taking on music and guitar in various ways.
In addition, I have the impression that the number of people who are doing home recording and live streaming has increased! When it comes to live streaming, there are probably many people who do it in a sitting position.

Today, for those "sitting and playing the guitar",  I would like to teach you the important points of posture when sitting and playing the guitar from the live video of my guitar hero, Char!
If you're wondering, "I didn't care about my posture until now" or "Does my posture affect my performance?", I would especially like you to check this out!
Posture tends to be subconscious, so it is possible that you are playing in an unstable and unbalanced posture that is inefficient for your body.
I hope you will be interested in the posture when playing the guitar with this opportunity (^^)

Well then, thank you for staying with me again this time!

I would like to quote the reference video from YouTube again this time.
Char is 64 years old (?), and I get the impression that he often sits down and plays the guitar during sessions and guitar reviews.
I will steal the secret point from there.

Now, let's check your posture when you’re playing your own guitar.

Let's call this my posture "bad sitting posture".

Can you tell what is different from Char's sitting posture?

The point is the orientation of the hip joint!

In the "bad sitting posture", the hip joint is open in the external rotation direction. External rotation of the hip joint = the state where the thighs are twisted outward, that is, the state where I’m bow-legged.
Due to the structure of the human body, if you relax your legs while sitting, they will be pulled by gravity and naturally become bow-legged due to the weight of your legs.
In this state, the muscles that stabilize the sitting posture around the pelvis (gluteal muscles, iliopsoas, etc.) are not working. I'm sitting loosely without using my muscles. Also, the soles of your feet will not touch the ground firmly, so you will not be able to support your body with your feet. Isn't it easier not to use muscles? You may think that, in reality, it is a burden on a different body part, or it is in an unstable posture to operate.

Let's take a look at Char's sitting posture again!

Char's hip joint is in the middle position, not in the external rotation position. The space between the legs is about the width of the shoulders, and the legs are kept straight instead of being bow-legged.
By doing this, the large muscles around the pelvis (gluteal muscles, iliopsoas muscles, etc.) keep the hip joint in a stable position, so the base pelvis and hip joint are stable and the sitting posture is stable. It will be easier to stabilize yourself.
In addition, the soles of the feet can be firmly on the ground, so the weight of the body can be dispersed and the body can be supported stably.

One thing to keep in mind is that when you keep your hips in the middle position, imagine using the muscles in your buttocks and lower abdomen instead of the muscles inside your thighs.I think it's nice to keep your thighs from falling outwards instead of forcing them inwards. By imagining the position of the muscles used for movement, you can move your body without using unnecessary force ( ・∇・)

Here is the sitting position where I tried to correct the position of the hip joint.
This alone made it really easy to play the guitar!

If you are bow-legged when you’re sitting, please try playing with the orientation of this hip joint in mind! I think you will feel more stable than usual.
I would like people who do a lot of home recording and desk work to practice this. I think it's easier to adjust your posture if you are aware of the direction of your hip joints, rather than stretching your back and stretching your chest to get a "good posture"〜\(^o^)/

However, it does not mean that you have to keep this posture all the time. Char doesn't always play in this position when he sits down and plays the guitar. He often crosses his legs.
I think it is important for me to know what a comfortable and stable posture is for my body and to be able to consciously control my posture.

It's better to have less burden on everything, isn't it? (I'm sorry for the broad scale idea! Lol)
It's okay to take it easy. Just have fun!
Thank you for reading to the end. See you next time!
